I don't know how to judge myself, please help me out

I know a lot of people are getting annoyed with other people asking for chances, but I don’t care. So here goes.

I’m going to be a senior and I go to a rigorous new england prep school.
Our school doesn’t have a 4 point GPA scale, but my average for the first three years is about an A-.
I have a noticeable rising grade pattern. My average for freshman year was a B+, sophomore was an A- and junior is an A. I’m taking the most rigorous courseload and all APs possible. My class doesn’t rank but I’d say I’m in the top 10%.

SAT: 680 math, 660 reading, 700 writing (I knew I didn’t do well, I was really unprepared and the test was so long and grueling. I’m taking it again and planning to get a lot higher.)

SAT 2s: M Bio-740, US History-750, Math 2-750, Spanish-760

AP: Chem-4, Stats-5 (self studied), US History-5, Eng Lang-5

Senior year courses- AP Physics, AP Spanish Lang, AP English Lit, AP Calc BC, AP Econ

Minor ECs: -Debate (4 yrs)
-Track and Field (3 yrs)
-Model UN delegate
-Amnesty Intl Member
-Executive Director of Investment Club
-Marketing Task Force (one of few students chosen to help the admissions office)
-Band 4 years, play alto sax and guitar in jazz band
-Community Service: Tutoring poor children in urban elementary school
-Yearbook Editor
-Tour guide for Spanish exchange students
Major ECs:
-Held full time job over summer
-Traveled to third world country to help build schools and other facilities for the rural poor, handed out clothes, etc. (bet you didn’t see that one coming)
-Volunteered for political campaign (will be getting letter of recommendation)

Awards: National Merit Commended, Government Award, AP Scholar with Honor

That’s pretty much it, my teacher recs will probably be about how I work extremely hard to get good grades, and probably some other good stuff depending on the teachers I choose (choosing between 3)

So…I want my chances at
Tufts
Georgetown
Colombia
George Washington
Boston College
And also could you guys recommend some matches for me that are on the east coast (from D.C. up) that are good for International Relations/ Poli Sc. Some affordable ones would be cool. Thanks…

bump..............

bumppppppppp

ok am i doing something wrong why is noone responding

Not too many people like to post on WAMC threads.

Tufts- match/slight reach
Georgetown- reach
Columbia- big reach
George Washington- match
Boston College- match/slight reach

I would suggest American (safety), JHU (reach), Ohio State (safety/match), Syracuse (match) and U Rochester (match). You can find more IR schools by searching; there've been plenty of threads about it.

thanks for the info, ill check them out, anyone else?

bump.........

If you want to go into International Relations/Political Science I would suggest American. Tufts, Georgetown, and George Washington are also good, but I see you have them on your list.

I am already a college student (Poli Sci Major), and I'm going after my MA in International Relations next year (going to start the app process soon... yuck), and I have found that the 4 I mentioned are 4 of the best. I would put American as your safety.

My thoughts on your chances:

Tufts: Slight reach
Georgetown: Reach
Columbia: Major reach
George Washington: Match
Boston College: Match

Good luck!

Work on your SATs. They are low for top schools/programs, especially coming from a rigorous prep school.

Thanks arlello I'm definitely looking at all of those....Tufts is amazing, I love it. Anyways yes bobby100 I believe my SATs are low and I definitely underachieved...thankfully I'm taking a lot of practice test and I expect to raise my score to a 2200+
