I don't know if I can even get into UCLA. Any suggestions?

I’m a sophomore and I don’t know if I even have a chance of getting into of UCLA now. My school isn’t very good, yet it’s still very big and so many are becoming so competitive now. I don’t know what to do now.

APs: I will have 9 APs by senior years (WHAP, APUSH, AP GOV, CALC AB, CALC BC, LANG, PHYSICS C, AP COMP SCI, and either AP BIO or STATS) and 2 self studies ( PHYSICS 1, and BIO or STATS)

GPA: 4.0 so far

Scores: not yet, but planning a summer study on SAT 1&2 ( SAT 2 I’m planning on math and physics) as well as ACT

EC(this is where I lack the most): Key club ( so far 70+ hours; aiming for at least 120+) origami club ( vice president), and writers club

  • I just found out about MESA and NHS this year so I don’t even know if colleges will still like me even if I only have 2 years for those clubs if I join junior and senior
  • also planning to do summer programs if I can ( planning for an internship in computer science)

I don’t what to do now. All the competivie people are taking sports and/or music and I feel that I’m not gonna make it into UCLA.

… You are a sophomore. Relax. Just focus on your GPA, SAT/ACT, and ECs and you’ll be fine.

You will be fine. For your EC’s just display your passion, what ever it might be. Try for a 2100 or 31 ACT to be academically competitive. Your course load is very challenging so that is a plus. Of course write outstanding personal statements when the time comes. Wish you the best of luck!

What should I do to at least get a match if I can? If I get all 5’s on my APs will I be fine?

Get a 2100+ SAT, 3.8+ GPA, and a lot of ECs.

First of all, you don’t need to take BC and AB. Pick one. If you pick BC and get a good score, you’ll get credits for calc 1 and 2. if you pick AB, only calc 1 will give you credit.

Don’t anyone can be a ''Match" for UCLA. They are so unpredictable sometimes.

@IBGuy101 so should I do more (I don’t really know what else I should do) or should I just stick to my plan and hope for the best. Also should I be worried about the conpetition? The top ones are taking around 10 APs and are taking 4 years of either sports and/or music as their main ECs

To be honest, just apply to some safeties, matches, and reaches. Hope for the best… if it comes, it comes. Try to stand out with the personal statement.
