When I was filling my QB application in September I seriously didn't think I would have any chance so I just kind of rush through my essay just to see what happen. I literally finished my essay in the very last minute before the deadline and submitted it without even reviewing anything. And you know what I going to say...I have no idea why they have chosen me.

I didn't participate the College Match because I didn't want colleges to see how bad the essay was. But I just realize that even for RD I still need to use that bad essay and I can't change anything in my application. I have emailed some college about submitting a revised essay, and they said I can do so by uploading it as an additional material. But I still very concerned...who knows they will/will not look at the bad one. So I wonder if I should take the risk to apply through QB to take advantage of being a finalist regardless or I should better apply through normal means?

If you didn’t participate in the Match, most schools will require the Common App for RD, so you can use a better essay there. But I think they’ll read your QB App, as well…couldn’t have been that bad if you’re a finalist…

If you feel REALLY unconfident in your QB essays, you can take the option of applying to those schools outside of QB using just the Common App or whatever they might need. I’d say you should show your QB essays to a trusted teacher and ask their opinion on them, because it’s hard for us to advise you without seeing them.

Hi, there are so many advantages in applying using Questbridge Regular decision. Main reason being: colleges will know you are a high achieving low income student. You will stand out b/c of this.

I understand how you feel, I started filling out my apps in late Aug, doubting QB will accept me. I decided to put down rankings the night before. They chose as finalists for a reason, even if you doubt it. Please use this opportunity wisely. Partner colleges who require the common app actually look at the Common app mainly, and QB essays as a supplement. They know that QB essays were written very early on in the process, and will not make that the deciding factor.
