I don't know if this is the right thread, but How should I put my EC on applications?

My counselor told us we could just make a chart and just print it out and put it with our application, instead of writing some of it on the 2 lines they give us and printing out another sheet.

But....How exactly should I format it? I want it to be nice, and I want to give a lot of info on it.

Tips?? Ideas?

I pretty much put the extracurricular activities chart on a Word document but added a short description as one of the columns. Do it landscape, not portrait.

Could you or someone give me a screenie on what it should look like? Don't have to give specifics...but I'm just word-processor dumb.

Activity - Hours/week - Weeks/yr - Honors, distinctions - Description

Sorry for hijacking this thread but,

Would it look incredibly stupid to put "Mentor for my 5-year-old sister" as my primary EC? It really does mean a lot to me, and it is career-oriented, but i'm afraid this will be interpreted as fluff.

What do you think?

blueducky- mmm...I don't think you should put it, since it's not like outside your house...but I do suggest if your essay topics would touch that you should DEF. mention it then.

and dchow- thanks! I only had activity, description, and years involved.

Does it have to be outside my house? The directions include "family activities and hobbies" as part of the Extracurricular section.

sorry this is like a week late response and you probably got an answer...
but if it says family activities and hobbies then I think you can do it then. I wish my college apps had that on them lol
