Hi, I have a curious question. Today my counselor told me that she got phone call from one Cornell alumnus and the alumnus wants to interview stuff with me through phone, because there are not many people who are applying Cornell in my area...But my counselor said to me, "oh...don't nervous, it is not an interview....but like..asking questions to the alumus...such as ...how the school comunities....what kind of courses does the school offer.....

Actually I applied CAS, but I heard from some students that Cornell usually offers an interview to students who are applying Architecture...

Anyway then do you guys think it is interview request?
Will the Alumnus ask why i want to go to Cornell university...stuff?
or will he/she just ask like, "Hi, do you have any questions about Cornell University?..."

I'm really really curious~

It is an alumni interview... I had one for early decision.

These interviews are really to provide applicants with answers to any questions they may have regarding Cornell. They are extremely flexible. For example, my interviewer offered to simply spoke over the phone if it were easier, or we could've met at her office. I chose the latter because the phone would just not be the same.

Cornell's alumni interviews are not evaluative, but rather they are used to answer questions that applicants may have about the school. The alumni will write up a report, however, so it would be in your best interest to show that you have a great personality. They will ask questions like "so why do you want to go to Cornell," but really it is just a simple way to get the conversation going. The important thing is to have questions prepared, questions that cannot be answered with the website or a pamphlet.
