I don't know a whole lot about UPenn, but I want to get to know it a little better.

So, what thing(s) do you absolutely love about UPenn? I can be anything at all, as along as it's about UPenn.

Is being in Philadelphia a plus or a minus? I mean this is the sense that does the city detract from the college social life. For example, NYU is in NYC so there is virtually no campus life.

Lastly, is the campus pretty? I know this is pretty subjective, but I just want to hear what people think.

But it is definitely a plus that it’s in Philly. It’s not like NYU where there’s no “campus life”. At Penn you get reap the benefits of both a city life AND a campus life - I know several upperclassman who went to Penn and they are just having a great time. University City is basically like its own little community/city of Penn people; it even has shops, places to eat and etc (Like Urban Outfitters, Cereality, SangKee, the Bridge movie theatre, White Dog… I can just go on and on about eaterys there lol). But you can easily go into Center City, Old City, South Street and other fun areas. It’s like a campus experience in an urban place, where you’re free to explore more outside the university community when you feel like it. Unlike colleges that sit in the middle of no where and require a 30 minute drive to go to the closest town. (ex. Bryant University in Rhode Island.) Make sure to make friends with someone from Philly to know the best places to eat & hang out to in ALL of Philly, not just Center City.

Is the campus pretty… yeah, I guess it is. lol. I can’t really judge since I haven’t visited many other schools, and the ones I have visited were bad. I visit University City pretty regularly because I live in Philly. Locust Walk would be the “prettiest” area of the campus. It’s where there’s lots of grass, trees and brick paths and some of the classical-styled buildings are. Outside of Locust Walk, it’s basically typically urban city style with buildings on every block and not too much grass or trees with the exception of some fields. The interior of some buildings are really “pretty” though; personally I think Huntsman Hall, Houston Hall, and Law School buildings are very nicely designed.
