Hello,

I am currently a business major (was leaning to declare as a MIS major or HRM). I am starting to regret my decision to pursue business. It bores me. I am doing well in it, but I don't know if this is what I want to do for the rest of my life.

Here is some background information on me:

I am 21 and will be set to graduate in Spring of 2014. I originally entered college as pre-medicine biology. I didn't do so well in my first Biology class and took a business course because of general education requirements and liked it a lot and did well in it. So I switched out to Business. I am 74 credits into the program now, with almost 30 credits in general education, however. I have always had my eyes set on something in health. A friend of mine at the same college as me is doing Respiratory Care/Therapy (BSRC) and it fascinates me. The program here only accepts 22 students a year and I would have to compete to get into it and then the program itself is 4 years with summer courses and clinicals. I don't know that I want to risk not getting into the program to begin with as well as putting my life on hold for another 4 years of school when I am 3 years into it now. I watch a lot of medical television shows and can actually talk to my Respiratory Care/Therapy major friend and hold a legitimate conversation with him. I watch Mystery Diagnosis, Untold Stories of the ER, House MD, Dr. G, etc. So I obviously have an interest in healthcare. The problem is, what exactly do I want to do. We have programs here in Public Health (BSAS), Nursing (BSN/RN), Clinical Technology (BSAS or AAS), etc. I like hands on and I would like something that would interest me. Nursing is a competitive restricted program as well. We also offer Dental Hygiene (BSDH), but I don't think I would be interested in that to be quite honest. I can complete a BSAS in Public Health in 2.5 years, which would extend my graduation date to Spring 2015 or Summer 2015 depending on when courses are offered. I am so lost on what I want to do, but I know I want something healthcare related. Some have advised me to try and marry Business and Healthcare, which I am open to. I am discussing the possibility of a major in Healthcare administration/management. My college offers what is called an ICP (Individualized Curriculum Program) which pretty much offers majors that aren't being offered. They would try and fill the education goals of the student with a major and a minor or supplement coursework rather than make a new program from them first. I have proposed the healthcare management, because I could finish my courses in business but instead of taking courses in HRM or MIS I could take Public Health and Allied Health courses for the concentration. I do not know if this will go through or not though, as they don't hand these out often. The other issue I have is the degree won't be "accredited" the same way a regular degree is (ex: BSRC here is accredited by CoARC) and I worry that this could harm my ability to get a job.

Anybody have any advice on what I should do?

Thanks in advance!
