I dont know what to do. Really scared

Okay first off i just got my Sat scores back and got a 1600. 580 critical reading, 540 math, and a 480 writing. i studied for about 6 months for this test. Before i studied for the sat i took an official psat without any prep. I scored a 1380. It took me 6 months to raise my score to a 1600. Thats about 2 to 3 hours on school nights and about 6 to 8 hours a day on vacation days or weekends. After all that i only scored a 1600. I asked my older brothers( he is in medical school) opinion he said don't take it again. Your only going to waist your time and score 50 to 60 points higher. I call my self an average student. I just want to go to fordham university. I have about a 97 unweighted gpa. I am in all honors. When i ask my sisters opinion ( physician assistant) she says take it over. I really dont know what to do. Like i said i have a 97 unweighted gpa, honors, and a 1600 sat score, and i volunteer a lot. What are my odds of getting into fordham and please give me your opinion. Also i am ranked 8 out of 300 kids. if this helps i am from the inner city of new york where public education sucks and i am in a public trades and technical high school. Also i majored in Bio/chem for my tech school. Please some advice. Also i see a lot of people saying they got 2100 with barely studying and stuff like that. I am not like that. I have to study to get a good score as you can tell as your read above. And i got a 8 on my essay.

Given your 97 GPA and 8/300 class ranking, I’d suggest that you take ACT instead.

Have you taken any ACT practice tests? Some people do better on that test. Especially given your science studies.

I never thought about taking the act but do you think i should retake the sat? do you believe i can get into fordham university.

Forget the SAT - it doesn’t seem to work for you. Try the ACT.
