Vicimus, don’t feel bad about being “irrational”. It’s okay to feel disappointed when things don’t go as you had hoped. My heart goes out to you.

My husband got his master’s degree at Penn State and we got married there. He had an amazing experience and it opened many doors for him. The big companies at which he interviewed were impressed with his Penn State degree. At least one of them based their starting salaries on the college attended and he was offered $10,000 more a year than their usual salary.

I would be very proud if a child of mine got in to Penn State. Best wishes to you!

I’m sure you are feeling very disappointed, and your GC should have given you better advice so that you would not find yourself in this position. That said, however, Penn State is a great school. I have a friend whose two daughters both chose Penn. The younger one didn’t want to go to the same school as her sister just on principle, and so initially chose another college. She transferred spring of her freshman year to Penn, and never regretted her decision. The older sister found just the job she was looking for within months of graduating. Good luck and be kind to yourself as you make your decision.

Thanks everyone. Penn State, indeed, is a great school.

Not to get your hope up, but my older kid did get off both of her WL few years back. She kept up her grades and submitted additional information in April.
