I am currently a pre-med biology major. However, I have heard horror stories on the admission chances of science majors vs. humanities majors. I also enjoy history and can major in that as well. I am thinking if I should have a biology major with maybe a history minor (just to show SOME well-roundedness), or a history major with a minor in biology or biochemistry. I am at a crossroads and could use some advice. I also work part time as an EMT. I know there is still a lot to an application (volunteering, MCATs, personal essays, etc) What else can I do to stand out as a biology major? Any other tips and personal knowledge would be greatly appreciated. THANKS!

It’s a horror show for all majors. No adcom is going to be impressed that you were a history major instead of a bio major. You need something else to distinguish your application.

No adcom is going to give you well-roundedness points just on the basis of your minor. If you like history more than bio, major in that, then. Just make sure you get all your pre-med reqs in. Do the things you know you need to do - volunteer, do well on the MCAT, write great essays - and you will have a good shot at admission.
