I got accepted to CMU (school of art and school of design), Pratt (arch), UIUC(arch), UIC(arch), Univ. of Virginia(arch-but im on waitinglist) and Syracuse (architecture).
But I wanna go to either syracuse or cmu but since cmu's prestige and academical value is better than syracuse.. I cannot decide my mind because i didn't get accepted to CMU's architecture school and i heard that Syracuse's arch. program is excellent but my plan is, if i go to cmu i will change my major or do double. Could you guys help me to decide b/w those? So.. what i wanna know is, which arch.school is better and if i decide to go to CMU, what school do i hab to choose (art or design)-i think design is more related to arch. program-?

They definitely have space in the arch school so again I will say I don't think it is hard to transfer. Realize that CMU is highly respected by recruiters and that whatever major you pick, you will be much more marketable coming here.

ok. today, one of my friends talked to her friend who are currently attending CMU for biology major and he told her that transfering is hard. After she told me what he said, i was kind of freaked out.
My parents didn't approve of my decision yet thou (b/c tuition is SO expensive. esp. im an international student..;[ ) But I really wanna go to CMU...

The administration wants to discourage massive transferring. Of course the students would also be under this impression. You can ask Carol Goldburg or the ppl that MAKE the decisions about how hard it is. These people know the real facts.

If there is space, they will take you.

Go to www.cmu.edu and search up architecture. Call and email the adcoms and ask about space availability. Don't say you are an applicant. Just say you are a CURRENT design major and you wanted to know about space availability and transfer advice.

thank u so much. I know i asked u similar question (sorry) but is it possible to switch to arch. right after I enrolled the school?
Im in total chaos now.. b/c i hab to choose the school which is very important. If im not able to switch after I enroll CMU, im totally screwed.

You can apply your freshman year of spring semester. Architecture definitely still has spaces and my advisor told me that it would be very easy for ME to transfer if I wanted (I had to tell her later that I was just kidding).
