I got accepted to CMU (school of art and school of design), Pratt (arch), UIUC(arch), UIC(arch), Univ. of Virginia(arch-but im on waitinglist) and Syracuse (architecture).
But I wanna go to either syracuse or cmu but since cmu's prestige and academical value is better than syracuse.. I cannot decide my mind because i didn't get accepted to CMU's architecture school and i heard that Syracuse's arch. program is excellent but my plan is, if i go to cmu i will change my major or do double. Could you guys help me to decide b/w those? So.. what i wanna know is, which arch.school is better and if i decide to go to CMU, what school do i hab to choose (art or design)-i think design is more related to arch. program-?

if you want to do arch, go to the arch school instead of wasting your time in the design program.

i go to syr, and some of my friends are in the arch program, and they love it. its really hard but they put out really good work.

Yes, I would pick either Syracuse or Pratt. Don't go into a design program if your heart is set on Architecture.

Changing majors is not that easy at CMU, especially if you are seeking to change "schools" or colleges in that process. You should get a very honest assessment of whether it's even allowed, by talking to CMU faculty/administrators before you enroll. Also, if you don't start your arch program from first year, you're likely to have to spend an extra year (assuming you are allowed to change majors at all).

Otherwise, I agree strongly with the previous two posters.

Isn't Pratt like one of the top 3 in architecture? I don't understand why it wouldn't be one of your top choices.

The best advice I can give you, is to dismiss the habit of using colloquialisms like "wanna." When they become habitual, they find there way into professional practice. If you were a job applicant. your cover letter and resume would hit the trash can immediately.

//they find there way into professional practice//

And "there" in this sentence would be circled by my red pen when I corrected your paper. In this sentence it is a possessive pronoun and should be written "their".

Just keeping you honest RainingAgain! :)

touch

haha. Brings me back to my college letters home to my dad. He would circle the errors in red and send my letters back to me.
