i don't know where to transfer to. help please!

I'm looking to stay on the East Coast (mostly north to mid). I don't want to go too far north though since it gets really cold haha. I attend UMD.

Area of interest: Undecided, but I do like languages/cultures, social sciences possibly... so good CAS programs I suppose.

College GPA as of now: 4.0

HS GPA: Can't remember but roughly unweighted 3.7-3.8
HS extracurriculars: Key Club (like Circle K) - editor, Orchestra - publicist (but who really cares haha, earned Most Improved Award), NHS, Kick-off Mentor (Mentor of the month Award).
Was top 20% (not that good...)

Extracurriculars: Circle K, AASU... looking to do more. It's hard to do things when you commute.

Don't think SAT matters after 1 year of schooling at a university.

Any suggestions?

Thinking of:
NYU
American

what are you looking for in a school? why are you transferring?

SATs do matter at quite a number of schools.

What is the reason you are transferring?

I grew up in Md/DC and have lived as far north as Maine. I think you can go as far north as Boston area and not really notice much difference in the cold factor. Winter is winter. When you get to Maine/Vt etc., winter last forever and spring never comes ;).... so you are correct on those areas.

I just mention this because it might expand your possibilities.

idwatkwia: UMD doesn't have my interests/major. At first I thought I wanted to do International Relations, but I decided that foreign policy isn't really my thing. I'm really interested in languages/culture, but I'm not sure if I'll stick with this. It's just a possibility.
Same with social sciences, particularly sociology. I think I just need a good CAS program with a wide range of options.

Andale: Oh yeah, it probably does. I'm really thinking about NYU that's why haha - they don't require that I send SAT's... at least that's what I remember? But because NYU might be a stretch for me, I want to have some safety schools... or just more options. And yes, winter is winter. I'll try not to be too picky about that haha.

Safeties? I'd think American is a safety for you.

I'd say NYU should happen as long as you don't need a cent of aid.

LogicWarrior: Thanks - I just don't want to be too cocky or anything haha.

hmom5: Darn. I do need aid ): sigh But thanks for your response!

CORRECTION ABOUT SAT:

For NYU at least, I figured out that if I acquire 30 or more credits I don't have to send my SAT scores. BUT they would like to see them if I have taken them (which I have).

I just really don't like my math score, but I probably will send them then. Bah.

Why American if you don't like foreign policy and such?

knights09: I still like cultures/languages. I figured I could find something else there that might interest me. But as I said, I don't know where to apply! haha.

If your SAT is decent you should be able to get into NYU, the rest of your stats look pretty good.
