Good evening,
I am currently a senior who has his mind set towards Purdue University. I am an in-state student who is leaning towards a public university since I can get my tuition payed for due to my father being a disable veteran. My only problem is while my grades aren't 'terrible' and I am confident I can get into most computer-based majors, I don't feel as if I am good enough to make it into the Engineering spectrum of Purdue, but it is what interests me the most (Computer Engineering). I would be open to trying anyways, but I'm worried that since Purdue is my 1st choice no matter what major, if I don't make it into the engineering, I will be behind getting into anything else. So now I'm not sure if I should even try and just do something that isn't necessarily my main interest, just to "play it safe".

I need some help and advice. What do you think?

-1st Choice: Purdue University

GPA: ~3.65-3.75 UW
-Pretty solid grades, all A's and some B's minus Chemistry (C+ Q4). (Horrible teacher, everyone got C+'s or lower)

SAT: 1700- (610 Math, 610 Reading, 480 Writing-not sure why-too late to retest)

AP Courses: AP English Language and Composition, AP Calculus

Extracurriculars:
-Marching Band (5yrs)
-Winter Percussion (3yrs)
-Show Choir (3yrs)
-Holiday Singers (2yrs)
-Chamber Choir (3yrs)
-Musical (3yrs)
-Play (4yrs)
-Held 2 part-time jobs during all of this.
(This is why my grades and SAT dropped, I was too busy to do anything)

National Honor Society
International Culture Club

I go to a very small public school that offers very few AP courses and not a single computer class, so all of my classes are core classes, Sciences, English, and Math.

Will graduate with a CORE 40 w/ Academic Honors

TL;DR: I just need to know if I should even try to do what interests me, even though its high-risk.
