I don't party because I don't drink...

Total BS

it’s only true. If you go an ivy and hang out with a well-to-do crew you’ll know that drinking and taking mad hard drugs is a lifestyle. You do some coke, LSD, ectasy and drink at the clubs. You create a relationship with people who own businesses all around the world or whose dad’s are high level politicians or officials. So if you don’t drink or do some drugs, you can’t get along with them and it’s going to be hard to achieve whatever dream you may have. That’s how it works.

Second generation non drinker here. Never will. Don’t need it to have a blast.

When you go our with your friends if you do, just drink non alcoholic drinks. You don’t need drinks to have fun. I will live in the old age personally when i go to college. I believe prohibition in America was a good idea back then. Problem is alcohol is a business and brings in good money. I applaud people who don’t drink becuase they believe its unnecessary becuase it is.

You realize that there never was any “old age” where people didn’t drink? Even during Prohibition, most people drank alcohol.

“Unnecessary” means that, by definition, alcohol doesn’t serve a purpose. However, it wouldn’t exist if it lacked purpose, so this statement is rather fallacious. If you mean in terms of having fun, that may or may not be true (why light a fire with sticks and all that), but alcohol isn’t intrinsically unnecessary.

needing alcohol to party is for party noobs

I agree w/ multicultural.

All you need is a Nintendo Wii.

…or some friends.

^^^WHOA, not all of us are lucky enough to have lots of friends!!! =/

Almost as good as the resounding success drug prohibition is today!

[Facts About Alcohol](http://ncadistore.samhsa.gov/catalog/facts.aspx?topic=3)

In other news, drinking is incredibly standard.

Not drinking is also incredibly standard.

Drinking != failure at life, 50% of people do not fail at life.

Not drinking != being uncool/unable to have fun, 50% of people don’t do that either.

These arguments are really just dumb. A lot of people drink, a lot of people don’t. Their choice.

Of course, someone who doesn’t drink is more likely to be uptight. Someone who does is more likely be an alcoholic.

But y’know, considering the size of the population that drinks (and doesn’t), it’s more that being uptight will lead to not drinking, and being an alcoholic means you drink, a lot.

I dunno if that made any sense.

Also, drug prohibition has created an underclass with no jobs and no future. I agree that it is a wonderful idea, as I am not part of this underclass and get to exploit them. (sarcasm).

Do the sportsmen get drunk? Some people think that sportsmen never get drunk because they always have to be fit. Others say that the athletes drink so much that they can beat everyone in getting drunk.
What can you say about it judging on your college life?

I agree, TrueLove…fun times are not defined by the presence (or lack thereof) of alcohol!!!

College is years behind me. This I know:

There were those who partied on occcasion but were able to keep it in check.

There were those who needed to party constantly, and to always party hard.

The former typically went on to successful careers and relationships.

The latter typically continued the behavior and became alcoholics (admitted or not), with screwed up careers and relationships, legal problems, financial problems, divorces, debt, etc., and ended up in rehab. This can happen anywhere from your 20’s on up.

By all means, enjoy your college years, but don’t be a complete moron about drugs and alcohol. You feel invincible now of course–you are young. But it will definitely come back to bite you. And make you look like crap too.

And to the OP, by choosing to abstain, you will never need to be concerned about how much is too much; about when constantly partying your head off finally goes over the line.

Drugs of abuse, including alcohol, are crutches. The less they are needed, the better off the person is. Turning a crutch into a lifestyle is idiocy. Suggesting it is a preferred lifestyle just makes me laugh.

And declaring that any use of crutches is evil is much funnier.

Considering the biology behind poisoning myself for recreational use is so unattractive… but I do it anyway?

Piano music plays quietly. theydidntnameme smiles contentedly.

coffee + a teeny tiny bit of alcohol (1 drink or less max) + getting yourself worked up at a party goes a long way.

you know what annoys me at parties? well-dressed drunk kids who lack self-control to act intelligently but apparently have enough self-control to not get lost in the rhythm and just break it down and instead of doing their “I’m only going to get half-involved in this” ****. Clubbing and raving is more than just about dry-humping, yo.

Go to the party, pair up with a member of the opposite sex who agrees to drink for you, and own the pong tables.

You’d be amazed how much better you are when sober.

Plus people do funny **** when trashed that is much easier to appreciate sober.
