I'm a senior from Pittsburgh looking to major in comp sci and I think bing is great
My UW GPA is about 3.2
My weighted should be average considering I've taken nearly every honors course that was available.
The poor GPA is mainly due to my attention deficit and depression etc
My sat is 1780 630 math 610 writing and 540 cr
Which I hope to improve in October.
Any good news for me?

The good news is it’s a little easier to get in from out of state. You’re still on the low side. It’s not impossible, though- apply and see what happens, good luck!

Seems very similar to the average Binghamton student. I disagree that the credentials are low. I’m guessing that most students at Binghamton have very similar credentials.

Bump
I also plan to send in a talent application as I am a competitive music student not planning to major in music
I’ve won top awards Etc

Binghamton is a ok school for a B student who wants to get a degree efficiently with not too much bother.

Since you are from out of state, you will have an easier time getting in. Although I don’t understand why you would pay out of state tuition at Binghamton when you could go to a state school in Pennsylvania for a fraction of the cost. The main draw of Binghamton is the low cost for instate students.

Spinkles12 The tuition for out of state students at SUNY is far below that of most other states. Maybe even cheaper than instate for PA.

Oh no, if only there was some way to find out and know for sure! Oh wait…

Why guess and be wrong?

From BU website:
Middle 50% Freshman
HS GPA 91-97
SAT 1190-1390 (CR/M)

OP’s stats are on the low side; improving the score and being OOS will help. While there are certainly some B students at BU, most Freshman were A students in high school.

I know Penn State and Pitt are relatively pricey as far as state schools go due to their unique status. But the “University of Pennsylvania” schools like Edinboro, West Chester, Bloomsburg are the cheapest option and are much cheaper than Bing. I would recommend applying at both these schools (if they offer your major) as well as Binghamton.

@sprinkles12 look i appreciate the advice but I’ve already made my school list now I just want to know about my chances

Sprinkles12, Edinboro, West Chester and Bloomsburg are not related to University of Pennsylvania at all. UPenn or Penn is a private Ivy League university. The other schools you mention are part of the state of Pennsylvania educational system-as is Penn State. When people mention “Penn” they are referring to the private Ivy League school. When they say “Penn State” they are referring to the state of Pennsylvania system.

@lostaccount, you’re incorrect. Sprinkles put “University of Pennsylvania” in quotes to show s/he wasn’t talking about UPenn, but rather the Pennsylvania Higher Ed State System. There are 14 universities called “_____ University of Pennsylvania” including West Chester, Slippery Rock, East Stroudsburg, etc.

Although as someone who goes to UPenn it honestly seems like half the people out there don’t know what the heck they’re talking about when someone says “Penn,” so I understand the confusion.
