I dont understand how minors work at FSU

It's pretty easy to understand, it's an incremental (step by step) process where you have to take certain courses to receive credit as a "major" or "minor" in academic areas like biology.

Generally these courses are at the upper division levels including prerequisites...so there may be more coursework involved than is first apparent.

The courses you get credit for in hs like AP Lit and the like are typically used to meet the liberal studies requirement for an AA degree which is (more or less) halfway to a BS or BA. Everyone has to meet the general liberal studies requirement, regardless of major. So even if you are some kind of art studies major, you still have to pass college algebra and so on (lots of gnashing of teeth sometimes over stuff like this!). Sometimes, AP classes like AP Calc AB or BC can actually give you a real push into meeting requirements for a major like math, chemistry or physics.

I don't think your English skills are going to be an issue.

Your faculty adviser will guide you through the process and see if you need additional consideration for language skills...but with a SAT score of about 1500/1600 no one will think you are at a disadvantage. ;)
