I dont understand how pharmacy works...

okay, I understand how dentistry and medicine work in terms of requirements and how to get in and how many years it takes. But what pharmacy?

Im not sure how pharmacy works in college. Is the only way to become a pharmacist is to get into a 6 year program? or can it be like other health professions, 4 years undergraduate education then another 4 years of pharmacy school?

Need some information

I believe you can do it 4 years undergrad and 4 years pharmacy

but at that point, if you are interested in health professions, why not try and be a doctor (unless you actually do like pharmacy)

If you go to a school that has a full pharmacy program, you can generally do it in two years pre-pharmacy and 4 years pharmacy school, if you get in the first time you apply.
But if you want to go to a different school for the pharmacy program than you did for undergrad, you'll stand a better chance applying with a 4 year degree

What consists of pre-pharm courses?
Requirements of pharmacy school?

Thanks.

Did you check out the College Board profile for a prepharmacy major? http://www.collegeboard.com/csearch/majors_careers/profiles/majors/51.1103.html
