I'm an incoming freshman transferring courses from another college. On my transcript, one of my transfer courses read:

MATH 401X Departmental T 0.00 0.00 4.00 0.00

I've looked all around and I can't seem to find a course called "Math 401" or "Math 401X" at umich. Any help on what this means would be greatly appreciated!

You won’t find a course with an ‘x’ in the course list. It sounds like the transfer credit was given for doing senior level math. One that involves a wide variety of topics that do not fit into a particular course offered at umich. What math course/s did you take at your previous college?

I believe this would be for AP statistics credit. Though I am not sure what “Math 401” exactly is, I do know that it means while you received 4 credits, the credits only go toward elective credits. This means that you did not place out of any intro-classes (because of UofM’s policy for that certain AP course); however, you still received credit and therefore 4 credits will go toward the total 120 credits that you need to graduate.

The class was intro to graphy theory, and I believe WishfulWolverine is correct, thanks!
