I personally don’t understand why I did not get accepted…

A lot of good, hardworking students get rejected.

It has to do with the fact that they just run out of seats.

Actually, I am surprised by that. Especially when you being in-state.

Wow wtf I’m an Asian male with much worse ECAs. Maybe it was the essays?

You might benefit from asking, or having your GC ask to see if there is something in your app you don’t realize?

I think the suggestion to have a GC or trusted adult to look over your application is a good one.

Are you certain all the required parts of your app were submitted?

You can actually just call them and ask. They have been known to tell why.

I would ask also… Your credentials are outstanding.

OP, so sorry to hear this. What other schools have you applied to?

Definitely talk with your college counselor on Monday.

I’m so sorry, you were very deserving of admission. This was an extremely tough year for GT for some reason. Don’t lose confidence I’m sure you will get into a school that you will love.

Wow, that’s a little crazy how you didn’t get in, I’m sorry :frowning: . Did you maybe forget to submit something?

I’m thinking maybe all your scores weren’t sent in?

Starting from the top,

  1. with that SAT score, PSAT semifinalist may be expected
  2. 680 chem is a red flag because bme heavily deals with chem
  3. no major related extracurriculars (hospital intern doesn’t relate to bme)

I’m surprised by this as well. I second calling GT and asking them.

I think 800+690+760=2250 SAT, but anyways this seems surprising. BME is very hard to get into, though.

I got 730 on reading but wrote it wrong
How do I edit this?

You can’t edit more than 15 minutes after post was made.

Well your ACT is so strong there is no need to worry about the SATs. I second the idea of having your GC look at your application, read your letters and call GT if he/she can’t figure it out by just looking at your materials. Did you express interest. I did not think GT paid attention to that anyway. Your credentials area strong. I think volunteering at a hospital is very relevant to BME-at least given available opportunities for high school students. Would you have attended if you got in? Was that your first choice? Maybe the GC can help by talking to GT -perhaps appealing. It is usually a lost cause but not if there was some glitch with your application.

I am surprised also. Especially in-state. When I look at the EA admissions thread, I am floored by the qualifications of deferred and rejected candidates–all well-rounded and all those APs! My DS’s school does not even offer AP courses, and he was accepted. If you told me the EA thread was a Yale thread (my DS was deferred=later rejection), I would believe it. The field of applicants looks far more objectively qualified than even Duke as well. I completely underestimated the competition of GT admissions.

I made sure all the materials were turned in.
I graduated from high school last year and the counselor has changed but I will certainly go ask the new counselor for advice.
I am planning to call GT on Monday after I talk to GC.
GT was my first choice school because all of my friends and my boyfriend go there and I live close to it.
Honestly, I seriously have no clue why I did not get accepted… I am quite disappointed at myself and at Georgia Tech.
