I dont wanna take ittttt

Yo. I'm a senior who has a satisfactory SAT score (2100). I signed up for the ACT awhile ago and i was pretty confident to take the test, and i noted in my apps (UC) that i would be taking it in December.
However, this week rolls around and i have like..BARELY STUDIED. is there a way that i can tell UC's that i WONT be taking it and tell them to just look at my SAT score only?
I just don't want to bomb the ACT this week and let that drag down my decent 2100 score...or WOULD it? do colleges really just look at the best one (between act and sat) and forget about the other?
urghh what do i do...

Wait for your act score and then send. But im sure they wont care if you get worse on the act

^ but if i don't send they would punish me for it since i listed it on the application. any way to change the app?

I dont think it matters but contact them just for sure. When you applied you should have gotten a confirmation email that had all of the details inside

My son is in a similar position. He got a 2150 on the SAT and was signed up for the ACT. He had really been dragging his feet on studying for the ACT (I think he opened the study book, but that's about it). The only reason he signed up for it was in case his SAT scores were not strong.

I let him take a pass on the ACT since his scores were good, and he was Nat'l Merit Commended. Neither of us regrets it, and he's gotten in to all his safeties. Since colleges don't require both tests, I doubt that they're going to care that you didn't take the ACT; after all, you got a good score on the SAT.

I think that your first semester grades are more important than another test, frankly.

All this is with the disclaimer that I am a fairly relaxed parent, CC-wise.

Take it bro. First time I took it I studied a little but it was mostly sat studying, and I only got a 31. Then six months rolled by with no studying whatsover and I got a 33! The act is a much better test to take cold, at least for me. Science requires no real knowledge of science just how to read a graph. reading is well reading, english is easier than the sat writing and math id also say is easier than the sat.

good luck,
mike

For UCs, whether you list it on app doesn't mean anything. You have an SAT and I assume you have sent offical scores (including SAT IIs) to the UCs you are applying to. When they go to make a decision that is what they will rely on (not anything on tests contained in your app) unless, in fact, they have received another offical score. They won't care one way or the other whether you actually take or submit the December ACT score.
