I don't want my application to seem "blah"

Yeah, I'm really worried about this. I have pretty good activities (newspaper writer/editor, sailing, tennis, trumpet, eBay, etc) and I spend a good deal of time in all of them.

I can't help but feel that these are on everyone's application though. Outside of essays, how can I really showcase my activities (and everything in general) as being different?

sailing is pretty unique...talk about that in your essay

Haha, yeah I've already written my essay on it. It's actually for a great cause too (I'm definetly not the yacht /country club type despite my tennis/sailing activities).

Could I "excessively" elaborate on some activities in the add. info sections of apps? This has been my plan as of yet.

You could, but it is not advisable. It may make you stand out, but not in a good way. It is much harder to be concise than the go on and on without adding anything of value.

Weigh each word and make it count. That's how you'll stand out from the crowd.
