i don't want to sound obsessive, but ..

if i get a B this year in AP lang and composition, will it hurt my chances at top 20 schools?

i got a B+ in english freshman year, an A in english soph year, and i'm afraid that i'll go down to a B again this year (just by seeing how things are going).

english is my worst subject, and i've gotten A's in everything else so far, and don't see a problem getting an A in all of my other classes.. how much will one B hurt me?

Won't kill your chances since it's an AP class, and a B is good in college. If you had a C or a D, then I would be worried. Can always make it up if you get a good score on the AP exam, but you'll be accepted by then.

well, i'm a junior now, and i doubt i'd be able to do THAT well on the AP :/
english is by far my weakest subject, and i have an EXTREMELY hard teacher. he's actually known in my school as being the hardest grader and having the hardest class. he's a great teacher, and i learn a lot, but i'm worried about my grade. >.<

normally a B wouldn't matter too much .. but i'm aiming to get into a top 20 or even a top 10 school. gahhh. considering that my SATs/EC's are good, it wouldn't hurt me too much, right?

How is one B going to ruin your average GPA...come on, it will have very little affect on getting into top 20.

...but you did end up sounding extremely obsessive. You're fine.

Only on CC is this normal.

Oh, the obsessive CCer.
Don't worry. You'll get in where you get in.

nope u better just get ready for community college cuz i think that b puts any university out of reach

Nah, you'll be okay. I got into six top-20 schools (rejected by three top-20 schools) with a 3.85 (unweighted - we didn't weight), which is obviously more than one B.

ah okay. thanks guys. hahaha sorry. just looking at CC makes me nervous ... people who get straight A's and close to perfect SATs don't get in to top schools .. so you know, it worries me.

Remember...

CC attracts the best like fish to a glowstick... If you look at our acceptance rates to top colleges, the percentage here is far higher than the national rate.
