I can become a doctor by taking the longer route right? I can just go to college and major in pre-med or something and then apply to medical school right? I started this thread hoping that it will provide me with some consolation..so please reply

The majority of medical students are through the normal process of getting an undergraduate degree first and then apply to medical school. A lot of things will change in four years including your passion for a certain career. Keep your option open by going through the normal route is not a bad idea at all.

Yea. You're pretty much screwed. The nation only produces 200 doctors a year and those BS/MD kids take up 150 of those spots.

yo norcalguy, seriously!?

thanks a lot leungpy1, you put a smile on my face.

Obviously he wasn't serious.

"Keep your option open by going through the normal route is not a bad idea at all." ......or as a last resort loll..

Only a limited amount of students getting into med school are bs/md students. Most of them take the normal path through undergrad. If you don't get into one of the medical programs that doesn't mean you won't get into med school.
