I dropped a bit...

So far, I have pretty good grades. The problem is, I went from 1 B and the rest As in 1st Marking Period to 2 Bs and the rest As in second marking period. Do you think this will have any great negative effect? Its not like I gave up, I basically worked as much as before, but one assignment screwed me up. FYI, the class I dropped in is AP Chem. Any answer (especially one from admissionsdaniel) will be appreciated.

wait r u rd? or early deferred?
uh in my opinion (which i know is nothing compared to admissiondaniels), i dont think 1 more B is gonna do anything. as jhu has said many times, they look at the whole application package, they wont scrutinize at one little B and reject you.

Early Deffered
I knew I had a small chance, so I was trying not to screw it up...

This post is similar to a chances thread, so I doubt admissionsdaniel will be replying.

Don't worry, you're fine. One B in AP Chem is probably coupled with a lot of the natural stress that comes with senior year. Hopkins will take this into account.

As I have said numerous times...

(1) senior grades matter
(2) trends matter
(3) grades are reviewed in context of rigor of curriculum
and
(4) everything is taken into account

admissionsdaniel, my province had a strike for two weeks so the entire system has been pushed back and I won't be receiving a final mark until march 15. So should I send an update later on or just send in what i've got now?

If you mid-year report will not be sent by Feb. 15 because a delay with your school that is OK. Just have your school send the report when it is available and include a note of why there was a delay.

Sanosuke, is there a reason you got that extra B? Perhaps your counselor can explain it on the mid-year report - whether or not that is an especially hard class in your school, super-super-rigorous courseload at your school last semester...etc.

The class is cake; I just forgot to hand in a homework assignment. The MP before I got a low A, and b/c of the assignment, it went down to a high B. There's really no excuse, but since I'm taking a lot of other APs, I hope it won't matter too much...

good luck!!
