I Dub Thee.....the Official Ed Decision Thread

Calling all Penn ED’ers…and RD’ers are welcome as well:)

OK, so since we don’t have an OFFICIAL ED decision thread, I’ve decided to start one. It’s my Holiday gift to all hopeful Penn Quakers:)

We’ve got less than 48 hours to go, so I think the timing is appropriate. I figure this is the place for congratualations, last minute fears and worries, and general rants/freaking out/insanity and what not.

Most importantly, we can count down the last hours and minutes here, and when decisions arrive, we can all share our outcomes.

I figure when decisions arrive, there’ll be such an upswelling of emotion that none of us will really be able to focus on anything, whether the news be good or bad. So, when decisions arrive, just post the following:

User Name:
School (CAS, Wharton, Nursing, SEAS, or Special Program):
Decision:

Let’s not bother with stats, after all, those who get in won’t give a damn, and those who don’t won’t give a damn since they’ll be too upset to care.

Either way, most of us will be busy celebrating/wallowing in self pity to think about CC, but just check in and tell us of your fate.

Once again, GOOD LUCK! So many of you deserve this!

Lol, most of our stats are in the prediction thread so I agree...we should just post whether we got in or not here. Plus, I'm probably just going to log in to CC for 5 sec, see how everyone else did, then go crying and calling myself stupid :( Still, best of luck to everyone here! Hope you guys become Quakers!

Yeah, if I don't get in, I don't know how I'll have the heart to visit CC and see all of the replies from posters who did get in. However, the Penn board has helped me tremendously, and it's become a really fun group, so I won't abandon if even if I do get bad news. (knock on wood)

good luck guys. May the RD round be kind to me :)

Good luck to you celebrian! At least you've got a few months to forget about, or agonize, over the decisions. Hopefully, you'll be to busy partying your way through senior year to be obsessed over Penn.:)

Two of the TOP kids in my school got deferred from other Ivys this week. I knew how much they wanted it, and felt bad for them, but weirdly, it made me feel better if/when the same thing happens to me, to know that I'm in good company. I just want everyone to know that there is no shame in not getting accepted to the #4 school in the country!!! I know everyone here will end up in great schools. Good luck ahead of time.

im not one to worry or obsess about things like this, but I began counting down the days and thinking about it last week. once it got the high numbers of december 1-10 then I started thinking 10... 9... 8...

I am confident about my app, I have great SATs/great sports hook, but I have lately been thinking "what if the answer is no, what if I open up my email and i am deferred..."

it makes me think that if someone as laid back as me can get caught up and worried about it then the people who obsess and slave over every facet of the application and who get paranoid and dont think straight must be in real trouble.

im seas ED, gl to all

the official thread can't have such an atrocious title... plus, we need to have stats. It's CC tradition and the rest of CC is doing it. Let the people who get in boast themselves (and their stats). They deserve it.

I prefer no stats myself. Penn should make their own tradition! In fact, to see what your decisions is, is my only motivation to keep posting here (then I'm leaving cc for a while). I'm so pumped to see what becomes of you guys! I'm rooting for you! :D Especially cujoe! Yay Cujoe!

Besides, most rejects won't post stats, and a lot of deferrees won't, but I guess it's not my decision is it lol! :D

How about stats optional? It turns out that way anyway.

Actually, I like having stats posted--not to show off or anything, but a lot of people use the decisions threads to measure their own chances, etc.. so posting our stats will be useful for future Penn applicants :)

I'll check CC before checking decisions. very nervous

No guys we have to do stats. Think about all the kids next year who will be wondering who got in with what stats (just like we did :)). Someone in a previous thread put a template "form" up we can use for stats.

I'm actually not going to post my stats because I don't want to contribute to the CC fanatics. CC made me so nervous that I pushed myself to extreme measures and I don't think anyone should do that. College admissions is too insane now!

I thought people would prefer no stats, but knowing CC, I should have figured that it would be the opposite:) Stats are optional then, since I really doubt that the ones who get rejected and deferred will be up to posting the stats that kept them out of Penn.

I guess it would be helpful to next year's hopeful Quakers, so knock yourselves out!

TOMORROW IS THE DAY!!!!!!!!!!!

lol how ****ed would everyone be if i made a chances thread like... right now

stats are vital: they allow others to see a stastical profile (hopefully) of accepted students. i.e. what % of acceptees were recruits/legacies/URMs, what the 25th-75th percentile SATs were, etc. The more stats the better. The whole problem with Ivy admissions is the lack of data!

^ this is why we decided to post them; just have a little sensitivity. The applicants who get bad news probably won't be up for sharing those stats which "weren't good enough" to get into Penn

ok, i think as long as I get the admitted people's stats, I'll have no problem doing the statistics thing I started. Then I can make the profile of admitted CC kids. What % Recruits, Legacy, URM, What state they're from, GPA, rank if available, each SAT score, top two SAT II scores, school applying to

I'm sure that would be very helpful to next year's group, and admitted people will probably love to share their stats, after calming down of course;)
