I failed my drivers test

Because I couldn't parallel park today. I was able to park correctly yesterday and do all the maneuvers for the test. But I just freaked out and screwed up really bad. The instructor wouldn't let me do the other half, which was the actual driving part solely because I couldn't park.

I'm the only kid in CC history that failed a driving test.

How old were you when you got your license? What was the test like? Discuss.

I’m sorry. That really sucks. :frowning: How long do you have to wait until you can take it again?

I got my license about a year ago. I don’t even think Illinois requires us to learn parallel parking because we never learned it in class and it wasn’t on the test.

No, there have been a multitude of threads oriented around this.

I failed my driver’s test too.

I failed my first test…got my license the next week though. Just calm down and you’ll be able to get it.

story of my life… :[

FWIW, I am a TERRIBLE driver. i can’t park properly…parallel or backwards…sighs

Illinois ftw! We don’t even have to parallel park… though it’s easy.

^I still have to learn. My mom said she would teach me, but she hasn’t gotten around to it yet.

In CA we don’t need to know how to parallel park for the test.

■■■■■, at my driving place, I heard that all you have to do is drive down the block and make a 3 point turn, drive some more, and then it’s done.

Yup my mom told me that in CA you used to have to parallel park to pass the test. Not any more. As Cher said in Clueless, “Why parallel park when everywhere you go has valet?” ;)

BTW, I passed the first time, but there’s not ONE person I know other than me who did. So you’re definitely part of the majority.

I failed first time too. Took a left at a red because I didn’t know what to do. I just waited til it cleared lol. I turned 16 in September of '09. I still don’t have it.

No parallel parking on the CA test. You don’t have to drive on the freeway and you only park once at the end, which I don’t even think counts toward your overall score.

This is why there are so many idiots on the road in California, especially LA.

I haven’t tried to parallel park since my first driving lesson…I am so screwed for the test…

I got my license like 10 days after I turned 16. It was pretty easy. My parents had me take classes, and the instructors I learned to drive with also gave me my test. I basically just went around the block, parallel parked, and I was done. The instructors were very chill about everything, so it wasn’t stressful at all.

The best thing to do is just relax. I was at first really anxious about driving, but I realized that it’s not a big deal at all, just one more part of life. Everyone else in the world gets through the test eventually, so can you :)

You’re definitely not the only person to fail the first time, though. I was the only one of my friends to pass it the first time.

I learned to parallel park about an hour before my test. I passed. I haven’t had to parallel park since.

Anyone have tips on parking on the right side? :)

I didn’t lose a point on my road test (New York)

/bragging

I passed the first time too. I got my license like 3-4 months after I turned 16. But we aren’t tested on parallel parking in CA. I guess it’s too hard. til today i can’t parallel park… i suck at parking. but yeah, ur not the only one who failed; a lot of my friends did. i was one of the few who passed out of my friend circle. so no worrie :)

Come to Oklahoma. You don’t parallel park in the test.
They took that portion out of the test around a year ago I think.
