I failed my first class in my senior year

Hello, I’m really seeking some encouragement and someone to tell me not to worry, at least not as much as I am.
I’m a senior in high school. I’ve only applied to two schools (both in school) I was accepted to one (Michigan state Uni) and deferred from the other (Uni of Mich)
prior to my senior year I had a 3.7 GPA and had a 21 ACT but now it’s 23.
I took 2 AP classes junior year and 2 this year. my school only offers 9 or 10 AP classes.
I have a lot of leadership and all of that good stuff.
Anyways, I’m taking Ap Bio and although the semester is not over, I know I’ll end it with an E,
maybe a passing D if I’m lucky.
The lowest grade I ever got in high school was a C. the majority are A’s with a few B’s.
I can’t believe I will be failing this class but I have to accept it. I would just like to know from someone in college who’s been here before, is this the end of the world as it feels like? Will Michigan state take away my acceptance? I’m sure U of M will deny me. I will try harder next semester but I’m supposed to be hearing back from U of M by the end of March.
Thoughts?

Have you talked to your counselor at school? Have you tired every possible way to get the grade up? Call the college and ask, without giving yiur name, what happens in these situations. Ask what happens if you withdraw. And is there a reason why you ahvent applied to,another college, just in case? Yiur grades and scores aren’t bad. I think you need to be proactive and stop fretting. Doing something useful, instead of just waiting for the axe to fall, will keep you from worrying.

no, I haven’t talked to really anyone about my grade. I’m ashamed and don’t really like to talk about my emotions anyways. I will take your advice about calling the admissions but I’m afraid to at the same time. I have to commit myself to working harder and stop procrastinating. I have to.

I haven’t applied to any other schools because the other ones in Michigan don’t fit what I’m looking for in a college in terms of academics and fun. I’m a nursing major.
out of state schools truly give me anxiety. and a lot of their deadlines were weeks ago.

Great advice from @Lindgraf in the above post. Your counselor will know if your acceptance is in jeopardy and sticking your head in the sand will not make this problem go away. Also contact the school as suggested since they will have the final answer. Failing AP Biology does not bode well as a possible Nursing major. Good luck and be proactive.

thank you

@2020nursem did you talk to your counselor? Make the appointment right now. Being ashamed is pretty unuseful. And you are talking about your emotions to us, so you must want to talk. It isn’t the end of the world. You could still save your grade and maybe end up with a C or even a B if you work really hard. There is NO reason for you to fail if you put forth a minimum effort. You could get very helpful AP Bio study guides and still do well on the test, whihc will help enormously. My D self studied AP psych for three weeks and got a five, with no classroom instruction, and you can get a good score if you choose to. I do get annoyed when I see good students like you assume that because your grade isn’t great right now, it will continue to be bad. ONLY if you do nothing, and only if you let it. My freshman was failing Spanish earlier this quarter. I gave him a (symbolic) kick up the backside, and he is now getting a 77. And have you talked to your paretns? They can help you if you let them! According to you, you really only have one viable option for college, so be proactive and don’t mess up your opportunity. Have your counselor write a letter to the college, explaining the steps you will take to bring your grade up. Please come back her, or pm me, to tell us how you fare. Good luck, and get going.

Thank you, I agree. My last semester of high school began today and I’m feeling motivated
