I failed my second SAT, what happens now?

I took the may SAT and I got 2030 (800 math 660 reading 570 writing -.-), which wasn't terrible, so I decided to take the SAT again in October. During the weeks leading up to the October sitting, I was just swamped with school work (up till 2am every night). On the day of the SAT, I took it, but I didn't feel great about it. I should've canceled my scores, but I decided to see what my scores would be.. that was a huge mistake. I got 1890 and everything went down, now my school marks are great (92-93% average grade 11) and I'm taking 5 AP's in my senior year. Am I screwed for prestigious schools because of this?

Well, such a low SAT score isnt nearly good enough for the Ivies. What schools are you considering?

Well if I were going to get over 2100 in the december sat, would I have ANY chance at all for Ivies or UCB? Argh why didnt I cancel my score…

If I’m not mistaken you should be able to send the scores from only one sitting, whichever you choose. Score choice or something like that. So couldn’t you use that option and send your first sitting scores only? Correct me if I’m wrong.

Schools take your highest score regardless. Many schools require that you send all scores so they can take your highest score from each section without any confusion.

But don’t Ivies ask for all your scores to see how you’ve done?

Short answer: No.

Long answer: SOME of the Ivies require all scores so they can pick out your highest scores of each section even if those scores are from different test dates. As Tufts University puts it, Score Choice is redundant because colleges are already selecting your highest scores on their own.

Ahh that is GOOD NEWS! So its not the end of the world with that ugly 1890?

Certainly not :)

Wonder if it’s “ugly” to the 87 percent of test takers who didn’t do as well…

Are you OOS for Cal?
