I fear the unknown...

Does anyone know if Georgetown will send out confirmation emails when they have compiled all of our admissions materials? I applied to four schools EA, and have received confirmations of my complete application from all of them... except GU. Has anyone gotten one of these emails? Do they exist? Are they almost as rare as the Crumple-Horned Snorkack? I'm afraid that come Dec. 15, I won't get a letter from GU with a decision.

We haven’t heard either. My son sent part one via email and heard relatively quickly. Part two got mailed because the application was such a pain on line.

I had the same worry last year, honestly. If you’re really worried, you could always call the admissions office- they would probably check for you.

:(… I wish they would just go electronic!

Ha ha that Crumple-Horned Snorkack comment made my day :)

If I remember correctly, we waited last year for confirmation that all materials had been received, but never received one. D called Admissions. They checked during that phone conversation & were able to provide confirmation. BTW, snail mail EA acceptance letters were received on Dec. 13 - and don’t look for a “fat” envelope - it’s a single-page business letter.

I’m glad you liked it, munlover.

@ tunagoddess, I will call them tomorrow (if the office is open) or wait til after Thanksgiving to confirm with them. (I always feel awkward calling the them…) And thanks for the heads up about the acceptance letters! I would probably psych myself out haha. They should just go to electronic, I guess Charles Deacon is too stubborn…

Thanks, tunagoddess, for the information. I would have thought that a single-page letter would have certainly meant rejection.

I would’ve too. thanks for that info. If they just send you a single sheet, do they send you info about rooming, meal plans, etc. later on after you’ve put down your deposit?

Soph701, they include a couple pages of information, but just mainly about sending in your deposit. the rest of the stuff comes later.

neogop, i think that snail mail letters are actually better. because you don’t build anticipation as much because you don’t know exactly what day it will arrive at your house, depending on your location, and its also more exciting to rip open the envelope instead of clicking on a computer. (at least that’s my opinion)

Maybe…
Is GU traditionally early (i.e. before Dec 15) with their letters?
Not that it matters much, because I’ll probably get deferred… :(

tunagoddess that was really helpful! where do you live? was the dec 13 an early send-out or just specific to you (maybe you’re closer to DC?)

If I remember right, they mailed them on the 11th, mostly because the 15th was a Monday. Therefore, some did get them before the 15th, mine arrived (in Louisiana) on the 15th, but some people did get the letters a few days after too.

I remember last year, the kids who were waiting for G’town’s decision waited an extra day or two past others. Dec 14th compared to Dec 11th. something like that.

Hmm interesting. I guess it’ll be a surprise when the letter comes in the mail, eh? Or do they send an email out to everyone saying that the letters are in the mail and we should be on the look out for them?

no emails, just letters. very old school

This school is really starting to annoy me with its inability to do anything technological like send emails and make a decent web site…w/e…if i get in im still going :)

International students (those who live abroad) get emails with their decision. Domestic applicants get letters.

I called the other day to confirm that they had received my app and they said due to the volume of apps they could not confirm that. Aggravating.

Superoerachiever…that’s annoying. But I hope that doesn’t mean they’ve received a ridiculous number of apps…
