i feel in love with ucsd

I was walking along at orientation and i realized that i could really learn to love this place. I think that we are in for a treat guys. Plus, I no longer worry about being bored there.

SAME HERE.......... it's all about JOHN MUIR COLLEGE

i totally agree. When I was at orientation I felt the same way, like I would really love just BEING there. And I love my UCSD gear haha... my JMC bumper sticker is beaaautiiffulll wooo muir!!!!!!

Heh, amen. I hope I don't get moved to Revelle res halls though. I knew i shouldn't have slacked on that initial housing app...

Dido!.................

:):):) WOO MUIRON LOVE.

Eheheheheh, notice how it's all the Muir kids who's expressing their love for UCSD? ;) Cause JMC is the best.

tmc all the way!

wow i feel the exact opposite...orientation made me want to transfer at the first opportunity i get to do so

The reason's because you're not in Muir >_>

Mhe65, did you turn your housing contract in on time?

that sucks shapqak! what happened/turned you off so much? =/

Sumguynamedtoan:

Yeah i turned it in on time, but it was a few days before the May 4th deadline and unless 165 people did it after me...:) Oh well...

Go Revelle! hahaha sorry i just felt like saying that. i heard muir and revelle are big time rivals. =[

Yea. Funny thing is that some Muir kids will have to dorm in Revelle this year. :o Poor Muir kids.

yeah muir!! hey muir people.. when did you submit your housing app? I sent mine in on 3/25.. I'm pretty sure I'll be all good with the Revelle situation..

I don't mean to sound like a snob, but does anyone else feel like they were a bit overqualified? I've never considered my GPA or SAT scores very high, and I've never considered myself to be above average in any way, definitely not some sort of genius. I still don't. But when I met some of the people at orientation, I couldn't help but think, "Man, how did theese people even pass HIGH SCHOOL?"

Just for refrence, here are my stats:
GPA - 4.2 Weighted. I've taken 11 AP classes throughout high school.
SATs - 2130
SAT II- 720 Spanish
770 Bio
740 Math IIc
E.C's - Black belt in karate, 3rd at nationals, numerous other medals. Piano, won some competitions, did some concerts. Tutored kids in English, Spanish, and math. Some volunteer work, mostly at library and Shakespeare festivals.

I was expecting that to be around the average for people at UCSD, since the average GPA for someone to get in is somewhere around 3.9. Maybe my orientation group was just a bad representation, but people were way below that, and I was disappointed.

I don't mean this to say that stas are everything. I'm sure I'll meet people who are much more intelligent than I am who probably had lower sats than I did. But I also didn't expect to be wondering how people there actually graduated from high school. I turned down UCLA and Cal for BME at UCSD, so I'm hoping I'm not going to regret that.

Everlasting, what college are you in? Where did you go to school as well? How many of those people you talked to at Orientation had your same major? All of those could be possible reasons....

Muirons all seem to have been dropped on their heads in their early childhood ;)

the people i met seemed pretty smart, but thats cuz i was in an engineering group though.

There will always people that have better stats than you and people with stats lower than you at every college. As long as you like the university you should embrace it. I bet that there are people who have better stats than you in UCI, UCD, etc... Stats doesn't fully measure your intelligence. It requires hard work.

shrug everlasting13, I am actually glad for it, because hey, SOMEONE has to take the C's, D's and F's. :) The way curves work is that SOMEONE has to get the low grades, so that the other people can get the A's. :)

I disclaim too that I'm not trying to be a snob, but I have similar, if not better, stats as you except for the GPA. But I have to say that stats mean nothing too much to me. I learned that circumstances come up.

Also, I don't ever ever ever respect a person just because they have OH PERFECT GPA or PERFECT SATs. , I hate some of them because they lack the depth or maturity to be good people. I would much rather be friends with a 2.5GPA/1200SATS person who has a life, isn't a * and actually knows how to be a person than a 4.0/2400 kid who's a biznatch.

If I sound bitter, I am. Because I'm speaking straight from RL experiences. Fzking "Miss So-called Perfect" is the worst human I know.
