I suspect World History is a bit difficult; Harvard will allow January SATs, so I suggest taking two subject tests (to be on the same side). They are not as long as the SAT, so it should not be too much of a time investment, I hope. Meanwhile, concentrate on the rest of your application and good luck.

I would not say that the 700 in World History disqualifies an applicant. Adcoms know that students change their minds about their majors so they don't pay all that much attention to declared areas of interest.
World History can be difficult because the subject is so vast and teachers often cover different countries and histories from those that will appear on the test.

It doesn't rule him out at all. I had a 680 in European HIstory or whatever the other Subject Test is called and I got in as a potential history major. I never took a Euro class and didn't do that great on the test. Now I'm studying History at Harvard and doing great!
