I Feel Like I'm Dying

I have the worst ear infection in my left ear. The pain is so excruciating that I sometimes feel like I'm losing my mind. I've already visited the doctor and gotten medication, but does anyone here have any tips as to what else I can do to alleviate this horrible pain.

The worst part is that I have 2 midterms and 3 papers due this week.

Try meditation, may be. Hope you are able to get round this soon.

I suggest sticking your hand into a vat of boiling oil. While it won't help the ear, it'll make you think of something else.

I truly feel sorry for you. Please go, in person, to the Doctor and ask for help. Also, there are homeopathic ear drops, but maybe it would be better to go to your Doctor.

yeah, ear drops. My mom had an ear infection (and now hears only 40 % of what she could hear before; which gets on my nerves so much) but she used meds and drops and it's okay now.

OKAY, stuck-on-1700, that really scares. I hope that I don't lose my hearing like she did.

tha'st only in one ear, the other ear is 60% less than before. but with the right meds it'll be okay.

Take merlinjones advice: GO to the doctor. It's better to get the infection taken care of with medicine than it is to let it spread into something worse (trust me, I just had a stuffy nose that turned into bronchitis because I let it go and didn't go to the doctor soon enough). Good luck!

Follow the doctor's advice and only the doctor's advice on this, not people on the forum. This is too serious to be taken lightly.

Of course I'm following the doctors. But sometimes people may know a few tricks.

Go back to the doctor, you cannot let this languish as you can get really really sick. I got terribly sick with an ear infection on Sept 1st and it took almost 5 weeks, 4 doctor's visits, 4 different kinds of antiobiotics, steroids, and ear drops to clear up. It was probably the sickest I have ever been.

Take painkillers (provided its safe to do so while on your currents meds) and try hot/cold compresses.

Again, follow the doctor's advice, not those of us posting here if it differs...however, I've had lots of ear infections due to allergies, and fluid in my ears, and use decongestants to take the pressure off from fluid accumulation, while waiting for the antibiotics to work. I don't know if this will help you, ask your doctor first!
