I feel like I'm screwed

I'm a pretty crappy SAT taker. My scores are horrific and I'm starting to get worried because it seems like I can't improve anymore!

I'm taking a prep class and when I started I took a test to see where I was at. I got a crappy 1580. After about 4 weeks, my score is 1740 (that's when I took it at home, but at the actual class I got a 1690, and a 1680 the test before). My scores aren't really improving much. Don't you usually go up a lot in the beginning and then max out at one point? I hope to god I haven't maxed out in the 1700's lol.

What do you guys think is a realistic score for me at the end of the 8 week course? Can I get it up into the 1800's?

There are little things you can do to get that score up. Get a good night's sleep and eat well before you go in. Bring a snack or a bottle of water, and drink some coffee or something if you feel tired. All the studying in the world won't help you if you can't focus on the test.

Personally, I think you are doing very well to have improved that much in 8 weeks. One course won't magically get you over 2000. I look at the SAT as a marathon, not a sprint.

Actually I improved that much in about 5 weeks. I still have 3 to go!

8 weeks of studying will raise your score a few hundred pts for sure. I'd say you'll get 1900 or something.

I'm not what my username says (it's out-dated)

break it down and focus on a particular section. Take the SAT a few more times. First focus on math, then CR, then writing. This worked for me under the old SAT.

feelings of frustration are completely normal. believe it or not, i used to get 1600s, but after making a strong committment and finding a good enviorment to study (library) , i can score around 2050s with ease. the fruits of many hours of tedious labor and bordeom.

Dude you are definitely improving, quite a bit! Relax!!

I took a practice test on Friday at my prep class and I thought I did even worse because it was so much harder than previous ones. I actually did a lot better, I got an 1840! My math is still really low though, only a 570 =(.
