I Feel Really Bummed

So I spent the latter part of yesterday and today feeling really bad about my chances. I never sent in the CSS Profile (don't ask why) even though I was supposed to apply for financial aid. This matters because from past years applicants who were accepted had been sent an email notification telling them to send in the missing forms, but I never got anything so logically I am assuming that I got rejected and I just feel bumped. What's worse is that the decisions come out when I will be in bio lab and my friends want me to check right there. So yeah I feel bummed.

i know how you feel… i didn’t even get the regular emails about decisions day.
it’s kinda like - you are SO rejected we’re not even trying to hide it

Chin up! You won’t know until decisions actually come out. Let’s face it, we ALL have a miniscule chance of getting in, but there’s no point in giving up just yet!

you were supposed to get MORE than 1 generic email? damn -.-

I didn’t get the decision day email either oh well I guess we just have to wait until tomorrow.

well i didn’t get ANY generic mail so… i did get th Eli account by regular mail though.
maybe they just wrote my email wrong?

I don’t think there was a decision day email, Dbate. I feel you, though. I can feel myself crumbling, but can’t start the ‘moving on’ process until I know I’m rejected for sure.
Don’t lose perspective, though: Ivy Leagues aren’t the be-all-end-all; your college experience depends mostly on what you do with the opportunities you’re given, not where you go.

supermegatacklehug

Yale never contacted me when I was missing forms (my SAT scores)… rather, I had to contact them. I was finally able to solve the issue literally 7 days before the decision came out (by which point I’m sure they had already decided my fate).

Financial aid forms matter EVEN LESS than regular application materials. Your financial aid information doesn’t really get taken into account when they decide whether or not you get in.

My friend (Oprah! for those of you who are familiar with the Stanford forum) got a likely letter from Columbia and Dartmouth and they were missing half of his materials (ACT scores and midyear reports and transcripts). Sooooo yeah.

What “decision day e-mail?” Are we conceding that the e-mail exists b/c I never got one of those, but I did get a notification of an unactivated Eli Account a couple of months ago. Did anyone actually RECEIVE a so-called decision day e-mail.

I didn’t get a decision day email from Yale, but I got one from Dartmouth and Cornell. I don’t think Yale sent them.

I don’t know where this talk about a decision day email is coming from, but I don’t think there is such a thing.

I never got an e-mail. But I let my dad do all my finaid forms… so thankfully- ignorance is bliss.

to Dbate- you don’t have to check your status in front of others. just tell them no. who cares-it’s nobody’s business but you’re own.

-forgive the corniness of this post, but yeah.

Mal is rockstar… like me
OMG

So anyway i went snooping through several threads from early years and apparently I am not the first person to speculate about this. On every thread the outcome was the same those who were contacted for financial aid were accepted and those who weren’t were rejected:

So I am pretty sure I didn’t get into any of the Ivies I applied to. But oh well I love UT and got a full ride there.

^^^
purely anecdotal evidence… I wouldn’t look too much into it.

same here
i cannot wait
i am gonna do homework now

dude i feel for you. my parents made me circle the fin aid bubble on every college i applied to but never filled out a css profile. Every college i got accepted to contacted me and every college i got rejected from they didnt. But maybe Yale is different

Eh at this point I am just relishing my UT acceptance and leaving it at that. I have to send in my scholarship confirmation so I am just going to wait until tomorrow.
