i feel so old...

I'm a freshman, and I just turned 20. I've always been old for my grade, but most of the people I knew in high school were only like a half a year younger than I was. here in college my sophomore friends are younger than I am, I don't know how that is I think its because its a prestigious smart college and people are smart so they come to college early haha. It kinda makes me wish my birthday was like a month later so I'm not 20 my freshman year. I fit in perfectly with my friends, and I think thats why people are surprised and make a big deal out of it because they assume as freshman I'm 18 (most people thought I was) or at most just turned 19. It's awkward cause people always tell me Im adorable and they're like holy shit youre older than I am. My facebook right now is littered with 'youre not actually 20??'. with everythingelse going on right now it makes me feel bad. Is anyone here on the same boat??

LOL… RELAX…
Its actually a good thing. Age and maturity in college usually is a good thing. You are more focused on what you want due to some experiences that you have so far.
I am sure there are people quite older than you are in your school s freshman, but you probably won’t know since the college does not publicize this information.
Best of Luck to you.

thanks, but thats the thing. I dont have anymore experience than any of my other classmates cause I started school when they did. I hate to say it but my mental maturity level peaked at about 16, and I dont try to be but people always peg me as inexperienced and sort of immature.

It is really only one year. Why is this a big deal?

I started at 19. I definitely felt a little self-conscious about it at first, but you’ll get over it. I didn’t mature until about 21.

I started school at 20 because I was in military before. Age didn’t really matter to me because I look young. People don’t really look at it after 21. You’re just an upperclassman.
