Alright. I already know how you guys will answer but I would still like SOME guidance. I took a small quiz worth a few points, but me and a few other people had the same answers on a certain problem. We haven't gotten caught, but I am almost positive we will. I am just so disgusted with myself for even cheating. I knew the answers, but I second guessed myself and just used the answer I saw someone else had.

I have never gotten caught before (because I don't cheat), but I am scared this will affect me. Actually, I know this will affect me because I just have terrible luck. Anyway, I want to just come clean, but I know the people around me will hate me. I have already gotten into a university (not top tier). That probably won't happen now...I'll probably have my admission revoked. I don't know if they put it on my record.

I am just thinking I should go confess to the teacher. I am so sick to my stomach that I did something this stupid. WHat's even worse is that this teacher really liked me

I don’t think you will, if it’s a small quiz and you do, take the 0 which shouldn’t kill your grade if it’s a small quiz, and don’t do it again.

The sooner you go to the teacher and tell her, the better the outcome. While this teacher might be disappointed in you for cheating, she is just as likely to respect your integrity for being honest. While I might suspect that someone I caught has cheated before, I am less likely to suspect the same of someone who turns himself in.

Turning yourself in does not mean you have to turn anyone else in - if you were already likely to be caught, then so are they, and turning yourself in doesn’t change that. If the people around you hate you for turning yourself in, that says something about their character.

why would you get caught?
chill, don’t confess, if you get caught explain yourself but you seem really convinced you’ll get caught for some reason. quit panicking. bleezus

I think it’s a bad idea to confess. If the teacher didn’t see you, then you would have gotten yourself in trouble for nothing. Just let the teacher come to you and BS your way through.

Cheating is an art that requires skill, repetition, and cunning in order to be mastered. I don’t even remember the last time I cheated (long long time ago), but I still know how it goes down.

You’re jumping to conclusions a bit here. Do whatever helps you sleep at night but I don’t think it’s a big deal and I don’t know if the teacher would even notice at all…

So you’re saying cheaters are incompetent just because they’re not using the “conventional” way of studying? Have to disagree with you there. If they don’t know how to answer a question, then they use a different way to get the right answer? Is it justifiable? No. Should they have studied? Duh. But just because it’s not socially unacceptable doesn’t mean that cheaters aren’t competent. Basically all tests do is see if you’ve done the work or not.
