i feel stupid

what happens if i had a 4.1 UW straight A's in freshemn year but then sophomore year got a 3.8 weighted and then junior year a 3.5 weighted or maybe less? do i not go to college?

I don't know where you are from, but I went to a college event and a private college from California said that they would "not even touch" a student that has As Freshman year, Bs sophomore year, and Cs junior year. I don't exactly know how much that applies to you, but nonetheless...

i live in florida =\ this is bad news

if it was the opposite, where it was 3.5, 3.8 and 4.1... dat would look just awesome. but it isnt. to tell you the truth, your chances went down .a lot

is it ok for a state school?

well yes. Like with your grades and if you go to a California school, you can get into UCR, UCM, UCSC.

Well it depends. Did you suddenly start challening yourself more? My GPA went from a 4.1 freshman year (not weighted because no honors/APs offered freshman year) to a 3.9 W sophomore year because I added 4 honors/APs got B+s in two of them. :[ But I challenged myself! Then I got 2 B+s, also in honors/AP classes, in junior year, but in senior year I am currently getting As in ALL my honors/AP classes. :) I think I'll be OK, and if you're in a similar situation, you should be too.

=\ in sophomore yr i had honors bio and ap history but this yr i have honors comp science and honors chemistry.

That's like ditto for me, except I owned sophomore year, did okay mehh freshman year, and took really hard classes junior year which lowered my gpa. eek. ah, just hoping to get into at least uc santa cruz. possible? hope so.

I'd say that the decline certainly doesn't help, but overall it's still a solid GPA. I wouldn't worry too much, considering there are so many other parts to your application.

There are plenty of colleges that you could get into, including in Florida. You don't need straight As to be able to get into college, including 4-year ones. Indeed, most people in our country are accepted to their first choice college.

I doubt that you can get into UF, since it's Florida's flagship one, but there still are plenty of other Florida and out of state colleges that you could enter. Talk to your GC or look at one of the college guides available at many bookstores and magazine racks.

That gpa is actually really good, except of course in comparison to the super stellar students at CC. Don't sweat it at all though!

hehe...Flagship...sounds impressive

You never mention why. Did your personal or family circumstance changed? Fell in with the wrong crowd :) ? Something you can explain in your essay? Divorced parent, move...etc. Agree that your overall GPA is still solid for many state and private colleges, especially if you can recharge your GPA in your senior yr. Good luck.

Your gpa is not bad at all, but what is the UW, that's what is usually looked at first, then the difficulty of courses? Often people get 4.0 in freshman year because it is relatively easy. The colleges will expect you to have more challenging courses later and yes, then you might not be getting all A's. But you certainly have the grades for a great many 4 year colleges, maybe not the uber-selective, thought. Don't forget that there can be all kinds of other factors, of course SAT's, EC's and essays.
