I feel very guilty to get in UCS by lying!!!!!

I am an international student from Korea. I am transferring from a city college. I had a degree back in Korea already since I knew UCS do not accept people who already had a degree, so I lied that I never had a degree before. Even though I got an e-mail from UCSD to ask me if I attended university in Korea before, I still lied that I never attended one. So I got in UCBerkeley, UCLA and UCSD. However, some of my friends who are being honest and told UCS that they have a degree already are denied. I feel really guilty about myself.

you should feel guilty. just know that you took someones spot who really deserved to be there.

Woo, harsh!

Well think of it this way…if the school finds out you got a degree before you graduate, they will kick you out of the school. Dont you have any morals?
어이없어

i thought the UC’s didnt accept transfers or any other student seeking a second BA/BS.

did you inform them of your degree?

Dude, read the post lmao… He clearly states that he LIED on the app that he never got a degree in Korea.

^ i thought he just lied to USC

my bad…

In my opinion, I don’t see anything morally wrong with this. You were qualified in terms of gpa and coursework enough that you were admitted. It’s not like you lied about grades or made up things to get in.

You have a degree in a country that has very different rules and standards than US degrees. I can’t blame you for wanting to get an education here. You did everything the way that any other student here in the US did to get in to the school. Your degree from another country should not have bearing on what you do here.

And how did he take someone’s spot who really deserved to be here? He is transferring from a city college and went through the same process as everyone else. Yeah, he lied about his degree in Korea, but how does that make him any less qualified?

Well you purposely lied in order to get in. You did get in. So, you cannot feel all that bad. It wasn’t a simple mistake. But, since the spot is already reserved for you, go, and enjoy it. Pay your outrageous international tuition and enjoy every minute of it. It is too late to “feel bad” just make it worth while. And to those that say he/she took the spot of someone more deserving … perhaps, but that person has the same opportunity to make the most of whatever university he/she gets into.

Make th emost of what you got and move on. If you are truly feeling to guilty tell them. But that would be stupid too. So take the opportunity you have.

Well, if you had told the truth, you would have been denied.
You were accepted because you lied, but if they find out, you’ll get kicked out.
The only way you would have had a chance is to do what you did. You really didn’t have any other choice BUT to lie. Hopefully they don’t check, good luck.
My only advice is to deny, deny, deny. If they find out you have a degree from Korea, tell them they made a mistake. Keep the lie going, that’s your only chance.

it’s a dog eat dog world. people do what ever they can to succeed . im sure people have done worse to succeed than lie about a degree. just move pass this and enjoy your UC life.

Well, at least he will be paying out of state tuition.

Don’t the admissions folks read this forum? I’ve seen several posts from official UC accounts…if they wanted to check, presumably it wouldn’t be terribly difficult to find out who he is.

just pretend your stupid and dont know what happened lol… just kidding… well i dunno what to say about this

Its also not fair to the people in your class who you will be competing with who never got a degree.

dont feel bad… this is a capitalistic society and you should do whatever it takes to get ahead.

“Its also not fair to the people in your class who you will be competing with who never got a degree.”

Yeah, because a degree from Korea gives such an advantage over top ranked US universities right? How about overcoming the mother****ing English language.

“Don’t the admissions folks read this forum? I’ve seen several posts from official UC accounts…if they wanted to check, presumably it wouldn’t be terribly difficult to find out who he is.”

Yes, this is very likely to happen. Because they will track his IP address, obtain his information, verify it is his forum account, track down which Korean college he went to, verify his degree there, and then rescind his admission.

Give the man a break for wanting to get a US education damn it. I swear you people will start complaining that them darn foreigners are taking US jobs next…

they are welcome to as long as they do it legally

It is not a law, it is a school policy. There is a big difference.

School policy also says I can’t smoke a cigarette within 25 feet of any building. I do it anyways.

Wow congrats. Usually I would tell people not to lie about their past attendance but it looks like you pulled it off anyways. So I guess you should just really cover up your tracks and just do your thing at which ever school you want to attend. It was wrong but you got away with it. Some of the people posting are just mad that you just played the system in a way.
