I feel very guilty to get in UCS by lying!!!!!

Capitalism… is all about putting yourself ahead… you did what you had to… any I am sure many other people would have. Congratulations on getting into all of those.

I didn’t say it was likely, but the transgression does seem rather severe…

I’d be reluctant to make the claim that it was either immoral or moral (especially the latter), but there does seem to be something very intuitively immoral about it. I can think of several similar situations in which one would be very obviously justified in such an action, but I can’t seem to relegate his to that category, so to speak.

Also, this has nothing to do with “wanting to get a U.S. education” - it’s a moral question, not a political one.

You should feel ashamed of yourself. Lying is lying. It’s a tough world out there and you took other people’s spots. You have a degree but they don’t!

I’m Korean and I got into Cal, UCLA, and UCSD the legal way.

I call hijinks. This guy’s first post is, “Why don’t I have results yet, is it because they don’t allow in people for a second degree?” His second post is, “I lied on my application and said I had no previous degrees, boo hoo.”

We’re not his friends. Why would he open up his guilt-racked heart to us? More likely trying to get a rise. Ignore him.

Congrats dude!

-missyujin- I don’t think he broke any laws. Maybe rules but not laws. Major difference…

Koreans are good at lying.
anyways, I might graduate UCLA and apply Ivy’s just for fun :)

And for those of you saying “it’s a rule, not a law!” - he entered into a legally binding agreement to furnish the school with the correct information. Intentionally lying on the application would be a breach of that agreement and is, as far as I know, against the law.

Again…not saying anything about whether he was justified or not, just clearing that up.

To KGZotU
The first post was about my friend. However,my friend who is better than me did not get in. that’s the major reason why I feel guilty now.

It’s not too late to come clean and tell the UCs.

i’m not saying what you did was right or wrong.
but if it was wrong, karma will get you.

but congrats on berk, la and sd!
the top three UCs

Overcoming the motherfuxking English language?! He doesn’t even have to speak English to take classes that I bet he’s already taken. Besides, Koreans cluster together so they never have to speak English.

I’m sure that the UCs already know that he’s lying out of his ass, they just need the money.

umm… I’m Korean and I speak English
:)

If it was not ■■■■■■■■, you may want to keep the following in mind. Purposely lying on your application to gain admission to the program is committing fraud. If UC finds out about this, they will revoke their offer. If you graduate and they find out, they will revoke your degree. You may get in a world of trouble if should one of your arch-friends who knows decide to report you. On the other hand, UC may never find out, and you may end up living happily ever after.

Well…heh answered it for me:

how irritating. by the way, feeling guilty is your conscious saying “um, we did something bad, we should fix it”.

Well, if this is true, you’re fraudulently abusing the resources of a public institution. Honestly, do you expect us to care any measure beyond anger from those who didn’t get a place?

If you can honestly legitimize your actions, who am I to second guess? If on the other hand you’ve compromised your ethics, you’ll definitely get yours. I’m a little saddened by the minuscule push towards anarchy, but aside from that I couldn’t care less.

They’ll find out sooner or later.

Please don’t do these things. If you have any morals left in you, you’d know better. Hope things work out for you in the end.

I agree. They’re going to find out and the degree will be revoked…which means 2,3 years of hard work turned into bubbles…!

Wow, some real shady bastards in this thread. You all need a course in ethics. If OP gets caught he is done in terms of US education. Academic dishonesty is serious business here.
