I find AP Compsci unnaturally difficult

Note: I am taking it online, which I guess adds to the lower quality of my learning. Everyone else at my school finds it a easy-breezy class.

I have always been really excellent at math, so I expected APCS to be not much different. However, for some reason, I just cannot get the language or anything like that. The most I can get is memorizing how to solve a certain type of problem; no matter how hard I try I cannot grasp the base concepts.

Should I just not take the exam? Or is the exam generally easier than the course?
