I got commended for the PSAT this spring, and the guidance lady gave me my letter and the form that let me send my notification to the 2 schools of my choosing.

...i thought i sent that in decades ago, but lo and behold, i was cleaning out my car today and found the form, filled out and placed in the envelope, unmailed...The deadline had passed a while ago. What do I do-still send it? Call up my schools? Just don't bother?

I don't understand the purpose of the 2 school letter, to begin with. If I plan to apply to both schools, will not having sent the letter hurt me in any way? Or can I include that I got commended in my transcript and accomplish the same thing as the letter would have?

Also, I got a 220 in Tennessee. Does anyone know if that can get me to semifinalist?

i dont think it matters. i didnt get into either school i filled that out for.

The two school letter doesn't mean much, so not submitting it won't have any major effect. A 220 in TN is a pretty solid score for semifinalist status - the cutoffs for the past two years have been 213 and 216. Sometime in the fall, you'll get an information packet with instructions on applying for finalist status - make sure you write the essay, submit the application and send in SAT scores and you should be fine.

wow that made me feel so dumb, i had my commended letter and lost it

Hee, fathermit...this whole year, I've been losing important crap because my room/car/lockers were filled with college junk mail and application stuff..it's amazing that I found my letter at all!

Thanks for the input
