I found the secret on guarenteed Admissions to MIT

First off all, I can guarantee you all that there are less than 500 people each year in the US that have a 4.0 UW and get a 1600 SAT in one sitting. So lets keep things in perspective people!!! Admission to MIT certainly isn't guaranteed with those two things, but I would assume that this kind of applicant would have a 70-80% chance of acceptance, which is significantly higher than the overall yield rate for an MIT-caliber school. The rest of the components of this magic formula aren't really "magic", they're more like common sense. Obviouly a person that demonstates national or international talent in the fields of math and science will get the nod by MIT and Caltech.

I dont think your friend meant it literally man, he meant that having 2 of those 5 makes you a very likely candidate. I don't see MITs office doing that straightforward.

^but then isn't that the case with all colleges?

Seriously, why is this still being discussed?

Any one of those five accomplishments would certainly help you get into MIT solely on the fact that they are all achievements of which to be proud. However, no combination or number of them will guarantee admission to MIT (or "practically guarantee"). Discussion over, everyone go home.

people with 1600 4.0 got waitlisted this time, someone just PMed me and showed me this thread.

What is USAMO and ISEF

There are way more then 500 people with a 1600 and a 4.0 unweighted 10 people alone at my hs had that.

USAMO = USA Mathematics Olympiad
ISEF = Int'l Science and Engineering Fair

You must be kidding.

That is a nuts school.

yeah, 1600/4.0 UW and waitlisted! I must really rock!

...... its more than just about stats for MIT(any college really... but since this is about MIT..)! get over the stats portion!

alO, what are your 8 APs 5? I am wndering if you are strong in humanity!

Don't feed the trolls. That's all I have to say.

I was not intent to be offensive to anyone, just would like to know if MIT only favor students who have many APs in science rather in humanity. aol is outstanding in academic study and test, who should be the a member of MIT’s diversity community. The reject will discourage other excellent students from applying MIT.
