I gave up ________ for UCSD

Jacked this from the cal thread. :)

Since most people have submitted their SIRS by now and many will be submitting tonight, only one question remains, what schools did you give up for UCSD? Transfers, feel free to join in if you've made your decisions. :)

I gave up:
UCI (way too many people from my school attending and too close to home)
UCSB (never got a chance to visit campus or look into the school :()
UCD (seriously considered it but i prefer socal)
UCR (safety)

UC Berkeley (too far)
UC Irvine (location is eh)

my daughter declined...
Cal (urban campus; 1 hour from home)
UCLA (never under serious consideration)
USC (with presidential scholarship, still more expensive than UCSD; urban campus)
...to go to UCSD with Regents

I gave up...
UC Davis (I like it a lot, but too bad I'm an engineering major...so yeah)

sadly, that's the only other college I got accepted to :[

MIT, Caltech, Stanford, Harvard, Yale, Princeton :D

UCI (Close to home, didnt like the people there)
UCSB (campus seemed too laid back)
UCR (safety)

are you mocking ppl nate cali?, lol

Michigan (cold)
Wisconsin (cold)
Georgia Tech (far+no aid)
UIUC (cold)

USC - Cost
UC Berkeley - Cost
UCLA - Never really thought about it
UC Davis - Safety

I'm going to UCSD because of the Chancellor's Scholarship and other financial aid I receiverd from them.

cal poly slo, ucd, ucsb, uci

but i'm appealing la

"are you mocking ppl nate cali?, lol"

Obviously. ;)

"I didn't think I would get into UCSD, so I never had set any plans for going there, but I just got accepted yesterday as a transfer student so now I need to reconsider this."

UCI (ok but if i were to go there i'd rather go here)
UCD (seriously considered...i'm still not sure if i made the right choice-btw i'm a freshman at sd right now.)
UCSC (safety)

There was a kid I met at the admit day that gave up MIT and Duke for UCSD bioengineering

UCD (seriously thought about it. far. have scholarship, but still more expensive than SD)
USC (got in for architecture. too expensive. five years program = 5X tuition. would go if i'm rich)

others that i wasn't considering
UCI (not diverse enough. name is not as good.)
UCSB (transportation not good. family doesn't like party school)
... and the others that have lower ranking

USC!!
and others that I wasn't too thrilled about.
it was a TOUGH choice

uc davis

not a hard one to give up, considering ucsd has more than twice as many math professors than ucd does and that's my major.

Gave up:
USC, Occidental, LMU, UCSB, UCSC, Cal Poly, USD, AND Pepperdine.

UCI ( back up)
NYU ( too expensive)

USC
UCLA
Irvine
Santa Barbara
Davis
Cal Poly SLO
Claremont McKenna
Harvey Mudd
RIT
Arizona State
UCR

The last three offered some kind of a full ride, too, and I didn't even both applying to RIT or Arizona.

UC Santa Barbara
UC Santa Cruz
University of Washington, Seattle
University of Puget Sound (with a NICE scholarship, too)

It wasn't a hard decision ;)
