I given up on school

Well I take all these hard classes and get like average grades like a B yet my friend takes like easy classes and plays sports and got a acceptance letter from Princeton. Oh well Ima attend community college aint that bad? Also I think my english teacher is out to get me. Before the semester report card i took a test cause i was absent that day and he said he somehow lost it so i got a C+. Then i tried to start fresh this semester and when i got my test back i got a B. When i looked at the test he didnt even correct it right. 5 of my questions are correct cause when i look at the vocab sheet he gave us, the exact answers on the test is on the sheet which equals an A+. I told my teacher about it. Do you think my teacher is out to get me? P.s. i was extremely ****ed when i got that C+ on my semseter report card, since if he graded the test it would be a B-.

My friend’s freshman lit teacher lost his research paper and plugged in 50s for the two grades it counted. Some teachers are just weird like that.

If you get Bs like you say you do, you won’t be at community college unless you want to be.

It’s: “I’ve given up on school.”

sorry, but that annoyed me as I read your thread title.

how easy were this friend’s classes?

well the point that im trying to get across is if my english teacher is out to get me. My english teacher like ignores me and when i ask him a question he gives like a broad answer which does not help me at all. The C+ that i got i was extremely angry, but I was unable to express my feelings towards that grade because its been a week since the semester grades were due. I’m afraid to tell him to recheck my test because before the semester he loss my one test that gave me a C+. I feel obligated to personally hand the assignment afraid that he will “lose” it.

I don’t think the teacher is so much ‘out to get you’ as incompetent. I’ve had a teacher who once lost our tests often, but gave us all A+. I’d talk to him about the lost test, but don’t get confrontational, it’ll just make matters worse.

He can’t give you bad marks if he’s dead, jus sayin.

what the ****?

LOL sometimes I wonder about the people who lurk here on CC…

Why not have a talk with him, sort some things out? At least that way you’d know whether he’s incompetent or really does have something against you.

And with the Princeton friend of yours, I bet his easy classes gave him a 4.0 that gave Princeton an excuse to accept him so he could contribute to one of their sports teams.

WTH?

I’m sorry if this is true, but I strongly believe at least some of this is exaggerated, or there’s something that’s missing. No way someone gets to Princeton with just regular classes, and no way you get only accepted to CC with B’s (unless you applied to all Ivy’s + local CC).

Maybe his friend was recruited for football and/or was a legacy or URM. shrug It’s believable enough, so I’ll not nitpick with him for that.

If in all other ways you’re comparable to your Princeton admit friend, you should be able to get into a state college at least. Don’t stress :)

When I mean easy classes I don’t mean like extremely easy classes like regular he takes IB classes as well but not classes as hard as mine. Oh by the way im a junior, the reason I said that “oh well community college isn’t that bad,” because I felt very depressed and I thought the only college that will accept me is a community college.

Yeah, but that’s silly.

If he’s taking IB classes, then it’s not that easy.

I don’t find it odd that your doing bad in English.

You aren’t stuck going to a CC. Do good on your ACT/SAT and you should be able to get into a state school.

I think someone needs to calm down… It sounds like you’re going into a state of panic from one thing. If you are keeping up with a B+ average with decent test scores, you should be able to go to good schools. You’re probably in a better position than many other people to go to college.

Also, if you don’t get into a prestigious school, it’s not the end of the world. Honestly, I think some people are too concerned with that. I think they are overrated. Many state schools offer very nice educations.

People focus too much on the prestige of some schools. They overlook what other colleges offer and automatically assume they are doomed to failure if they don’t go to a super nice school.

If you keep comparing yourself to other people and it makes you feel bad when you see you are doing worse, you might want to watch which posts you click on this forum.

yeah thanks alot kelper really helped me. Do you think I have a chance at the lower tier UCs like Irvine, Davis etc… The gpa is wgpa is 3.63 when you calculate it. 3.63 this semester combined wtih my normal gpa is 3.76 u guys calculated it?
