I go to Dartmouth - Ask away

I go to dartmouth and I want some cool kids to come here so if you got questions, ask away - unless you're one of those HYPS whores because i'll say this now

both me and my best friend here picked Dartmouth over those 4 schools (I got into all but Yale and he got into all but Princeton)

heh heh, you might want to check a different board.

not only are most of the people here "HYPS whores," they're also generally uber-dorky (and not much of a sense of humor at all).

Don't say HYPS whores. Even though those are hyped up schools, I seriously doubt that people who want to go there have superficial reasons for it. I personally would love to go to Stanford, but not because of its huge prestige.

Though I do have a question, what were your stats like?

might wanna post this on the dartmouth board.

My stats blew ... i think

Went to private school
Average: A- // B+ (without freshmen Year, A-)
SATs: 1530 or something like that
Extra Currics: the usual, sports, blah blah, debate,

I did have my own startup company (pretty sucessful so that mighta done it)

but yeah - i just mean thte kids who go around saying HYPS are better cuz they're on a diff level of prestige blah blah

Oh, I know what you mean. I'd love to go to a school like Dartmouth but I can't really gauge my stats that well, certain things make big differences and they vary by college evaluation type.

what does HYPS means?

HYPS = Harvard, Yale, Princeton, Stanford

Hi, I got a likely letter from Dartmouth and it's always been my dream school. I'm a double legacy. But there's a good chance I'll get merit money from other great schools (Duke being the top one) and I would really like my parents to have a break from paying $40K/yr as I am at a high school that costs that much and they do sacrifice. Is it worth it?

I think that's a decision you have to make yourself...and not rely on asking people who you have no idea of, online. :D

Think about the benefits of both situation!

what high school do you go to that charges 40k? ... mine cost $24k

anyway - if you don't qualify for financial aid then i assume u should be good paying the 40k :P dun sacrifice education for a few bucks

come to dartmouth its great :D

im applying this fall

tring to decide whether to do dartmouth or brown ED..ahh

I go to Andover. It's not a few bucks. It could be more like a $80K difference at top colleges, and a $160K difference at those just below the top. Not small change. Since I started high school, my father has had to slow down because of health. If he pays for Dartmouth, I feel obligated to pay him back later. And I do plan to get an MBA, so that institution will be more important.

Hanover will always be what college looks like in my mind.

Anyone else choose between Dartmouth and Duke?

How does A- Translate in terms of stuff on a 4.0 scale?

wow, not one person has asked how the actual school is.
I'm really interested in Dartmouth, what are the people like there, and how's life out of the class

Also, what's the physics program like

ejc2008,

What is your fave/least fave thing about Dartmouth? How's the food? Have you ever found yourself bored of Dartmouth's location in Hanover? What is your major?

can you tell us more about your "start-up company"?

thanks

did op just come here to brag about getting into those schools or something?

at least have the courtesy to put this in the dartmouth board, as it is an eyesore in the College Admissions forum

sorry im a sophomore and i have better things to do than brag dude ... it's been 2 years i figured itd be good to help kids who actually will like dartmouth for what it is come here.

As for A- it is a 3.7 out of 4 without weight

Physicis and Engineering here is amazing - i'm a government and econ major (phil minor)

life here is good - there's plenty to do on campus - i mean if u get bored, you have enough resources to entertain urself but there's lots of organizations
