I go to UCSD..and hate it...advice on transfer to UCLA

Ok, so its my first year at UCSD. As a senior in high school, I got into both UCSD and UCLA. The day I was s upposed to send in my SIR, i sent it to UCLA, but tey never received it! Therefore, I owuld have to petition to get back in, I wouldnt be gauranteed housing, blah blah, so I went to UCSD,

Well, I have friends here, but I really regret not going to UCLA. My gpa is horrible (1.9), and I have only been here a year. I know I should give it a chance but I have a feeling that I need to be at LA (mind you, UCSD was my dream school, but last minute my gut told me to go to LA)

So, if I bring my gpa, and have a good sob story (thats how I got into UCLA in the first place cus i had SUCKY SATs and gpa, 1560 and a 3.6 to be exact) what are the odds of transfering and actually getting in?

also, would I have to wait until next year?

Any feed back. And be brutally honest. Thank you!

if you go to a community college, it will boost your chances...at least if you complete 30 units at a cc

yeah but ugh...i will take some classes at a CC...and I have to wait till next year right?

Im just kicking myself for not going. I never DREAMED of getting into UCLA, I even forgot that i applied to it!

but say my gpa is like a 2.5 when i apply and i have a good essay..

what do you think?

ucla's average is a 3.4, and if you have a difficult major, you need to be competitive (meaning, you need a gpa higher than the average)

well currently i am bio, but i think im gunna switch to psychology

Both are impacted majors at ucla. The average gpa for biology at ucla is 3.61 and the average gpa for accepted students for psychology is 3.58.

You get priority if you're a community college student. I guess you better have a very very good essay if your gpa is around a 2.5.

ok,

cus i got in from hs with crap SAT and GPA, but had a good essay...thats the only reason i believe i got in so hopefully it will work this time...i hope...
