I got a 1 on AP Test

For the most part, AP scores are self-reported. The Common App only recently added the section to report AP scores because so many applicants were including them. Again, for the most part, you do not send an AP score report to colleges where you are applying - only to the college where you decide to attend so the college can determine if you receive any credit. However, there may be a few colleges that DO want to have the AP score report with the application, but they are definitely the exception rather than the rule. Check each college's application requirements closely. If a college does not require an AP score report and your scores are not what you want them to be, then it might be better to omit them.

You will also need to check to see if they are reported on your transcript. There are many schools that include all test scores (PSAT, SAT, ACT, AP) on the transcripts.

need advice on this: when D's AP scores arrived yesterday I learned a) she got a 2 on the US History test and b) she had her scores reported to her first choice college (Pitzer).

what should we do? hope Pitzer doesn't notice the score when considering her application or call more attention to it by contacting them to say that reporting it was a "mistake", teacher was lousy (few of his students attempt the test and even fewer pass it), blah, blah.....

help!

I was in a similar situation - son came home from AP tests and casually mentioned that he was having them sent to XYZ college (and we were very worried about one of his tests). Scores turned out OK, though.

I looked at the Pitzer admissions website, and they consider a variety of testing/nontesting options. Review with your daughter what she was planning to submit. It would probably be worthwhile for her to contact Pitzer admissions and ask what they suggest in this situation (she will probably not have to identify herself).

Thanks, fireflyscout. Pitzer is test optional for my D (her GPA is > 3.5) so she doesn't have to submit any tests although she would probably submit her SAT.

She is away at a camp job until mid August so do you think we should wait until she gets home or should I call sooner? (I like the not identifying herself/myself idea.)
