I got a 2070! =( Will that be enough for UC's? UCSD, UCLA? etc?

^ see title...it was my first test... so i was just wondering if you guys think i have an ok chance with this SAT score and a 4.3 weighted GPA...

thanks

I don't see why not. I really think that as long as your close to the 75th percentile score wise that you can get in. All of it comes down to you EC's, are you unique, and are you going to succeed there. SAT's only show that your a good test taker because much of the material isn't complex.

UCs, especially the top two, are numbers driven. You are barely in the average range for UCLA, which means you have a shot. Extracurriculars only count after SATs and GPAs.

I would argue that schools like UCSD, UCD, and UCI are more numbers driven than UCLA and UCB. UCSD has a seperate point system to determine admissions. UCLA and UCB place a heavier role on essays than the other UCs.

Sure. But the numbers still matter more, unless your essay is absolutely fantastic. From what I hear, Irvine is the most number driven of all.

Of course. That's true of anywhere.

What's your unweighted?

i dunno... i'm not sure how to calculate it!

A = 4
B = 3
C = 2
D = 1

Or is your school system different?

i'm pretty sure that's how it works at my school...but i'm still not clear on what to include or exclude etc. i've heard it's different for different schools too... but i'm not totally sure....

LOL. How do you now know how your school grading works? :p

4.3 GPA 2070 SAT:

UCLA/UCB: Match
UCSD: Safe Match
UCD/etc.: Safety

"I would argue that schools like UCSD, UCD, and UCI are more numbers driven than UCLA and UCB. UCSD has a seperate point system to determine admissions. UCLA and UCB place a heavier role on essays than the other UCs."

Gopsy is right... Cal and UCLA have a more comprehensive review whereas all the others are more numbers driven.. esp San Diego.

i think a 2070 is a good score.. esp with a 4.3.. is that 4.3 a UC GPA?

What are UCB's and UCLA's SAT averages?

thanks for your input everyone... anyone else have any more tips?

and mirrorofdirt....hehe... i meant that i wasn't sure about how usd re-calculates gpa's not how my school grading worked... i'd be in pretty bad shape if i didn't know how my school grading scale worked huh? lol... that'd be pretty funny! =)
