I got a 3.9 weighted GPA freshman year, 1st semester. Will this be able to raise to 4.0?

Hello,

I’m currently a freshman in high school. Now before you all basically attack me for stressing over this when I’ve literally not gotten the full experience, this is something that has been gnawing at my brain for as long as I remember, and it’s time to get it answered.

Here’s my story: I ended the first semester of freshman year with a 3.9 GPA. As I kept looking at more and more colleges, I started to wonder if this could be bumped up. Could it, and what would I have to get in all of my classes to do so the next two marking periods? I currently take a schedule with all core Honors classes (English, Biology, and Geometry), plus I’m taking AP History. The only regular courses I’m taking is French III, which is the highest level a freshman can take, an English elective, which is 1 credit, and band and wellness, each being 0.5 credits. So, with all these courses do you think I can raise it up?

If I was a little vague, let me know. I’d be more than happy to give you whatever you need to help me.

Thank you!

“To raise your GPA above a 4.0, you need to take Honors/AP/IB or Dual Enrollment courses where the school will give you extra points for the advanced classes. Not all schools do a weighted GPA. If your unweighted GPA is 3.9, then you are doing fine. Most colleges will use their own weighting system and not consider a HS weighting system. Just take challenging courses and maintain your current GPA.”

Alright, this really helped. Thanks so much!
